Compensation: $18/hr
Benefits:

Overview:
The Operations Assistant is responsible for making repairs and performing maintenance in scatter site apartments and program offices. The Operations Assistant performs apartment turnovers and helps our clients pack their belongings and move. The Operations Assistant must drive throughout NYC as a part of their daily duties.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • Perform repair and maintenance tasks in our clients' apartments, including, but not limited to, plastering, sanding, painting, repairing sheetrock, plumbing, changing locks, and replacing fixtures.

Secondary:
  • Assist in the apartment/room turnover process by preparing apartments for new residents including, but not limited to, cleaning floors, cleaning refrigerators, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning ovens and stoves, and removing garbage and furniture.

Other functions that may be required with this position include:
  • Assisting program clients pack, move, and unpack their personal belongings to a new apartment.
  • Delivering furniture and supplies to clients.
  • Responding to Work Orders and updating Salesforce as needed.
  • Always representing Housing Works in a professional manner.
  • Extending a professional, warm, and respectful attitude towards clients
  • Meeting vendors and tradespeople at client apartments and ensuring the work is done properly.
  • Participating in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.

Job Requirements:
  • Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.
  • Clean NYS Driver's License
  • Dependable and flexible
  • Able to maintain a high level of client confidentiality.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Exemplary time management skills.
  • Ability to work with colleagues to solve problems.
  • Able to lift 50lbs., carry and remove trash, shovel snow, operate machinery, and climb a ladder.
  • The Operations Assistant position is one which requires the staff person to be present in the program site 100% of the time.
  • The Operations Assistant must handle cleaning chemicals and solvents daily.
