While general dentists can support the health of your gums through regular cleanings and/or scaling and root planning procedures, patients who have more advanced gum disease may need the support of a periodontist.

Periodontists can provide a wide range of treatments, but specialize in diagnosing and treating gum disease, providing cosmetic support, and placing, maintaining, and repairing dental implants.
