What is a program manager scrum master?

A Program Manager Scrum Master is a professional who combines the responsibilities of overseeing multiple related projects (as a Program Manager) with facilitating Agile Scrum processes (as a Scrum Master). This role ensures that teams follow Scrum practices while also aligning project goals with broader organizational objectives. They work to remove obstacles, foster team collaboration, and coordinate efforts across different teams or projects. By bridging the gap between strategic program management and day-to-day Scrum facilitation, they help deliver successful outcomes on time and within scope.

How does a program manager scrum master balance overseeing multiple Agile teams while ensuring alignment with organizational goals?

A Program Manager Scrum Master typically coordinates several Agile teams, ensuring that each team's objectives are aligned with broader organizational priorities. This involves facilitating regular cross-team communication, removing impediments, and maintaining transparency across projects. They often use tools like program increment planning and Scrum of Scrums to synchronize efforts while supporting teams in following Agile best practices. Balancing these responsibilities requires strong organizational skills, proactive stakeholder management, and continuous monitoring of progress toward strategic goals.

These competencies ensure effective delivery of complex programs, alignment across teams, and continual process improvement.
