We are looking for a Senior Project Manager in our IT Business Solution Systems team that delivers, operates, and accountable for IT funded initiatives that will transform and secure the underlying Application functions and Technical platforms that the global Munich Re Group operates on.

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for executing a diverse range of projects related specifically to the North America IT Shared Services team or to support the transformation initiatives as demand dictates. You will also be responsible for partnering with business clients to understand and prioritize requirements, working with Shared Services PMO (Program Management Office) office to define and delivering best practices, delivery methodologies and the operating procedures, managing project roadmaps and resources, delivering the agreed scope on time and to budget, working closely with IT Shared services organization, Application Teams and external managed service providers and vendors globally, to achieve successful project outcomes.

Your Job

  • Run and manage multiple projects and take responsibility for their delivery using formal project management techniques as appropriate
  • Ensure proper governance to ensure projects are delivered on time, meet the business & technical requirements, and delivered within the agreed budget
  • Have control and understanding over resources. Projects will be resourced internally and utilize resources from our strategic vendor partners. May require third parties to be managed as part of the overall delivery
  • Provide leadership for project resources by building and motivating the team to meet project goals, adhering to their assigned responsibilities and project milestones
  • Produce a Charter for each project based upon the agreed scope, define the budget, identify the resources, create the schedule, outline the approach, and suggest the sequencing of work required to execute the project effectively
  • Drive the delivery of their projects with predictable consistency, efficiency, and success, ensuring overall compliance with IT-internal requirements and smooth transition of the resulting solution into production
  • Managing vendor relationships and the effective utilization of resources on each project, minimizing use of external onshore and offshore resources, and ensuring the timely onboarding and offboarding of those resources when tasks are completed
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and setting expectations with all stakeholders and act as the key point of contact for the project
  • Identify issues/risks, analyze options, and manage impacts to mitigate project delays and take appropriate action to keep the project on track, leveraging support from key stakeholders and/or management as required
  • Manage, monitor and report progress against milestones and budgets, ensuring consistent and transparent communications are provided to Management and Executive Leadership
  • Ensure all project costs (actuals) are actively tracked and managed, including SOWs/Purchase Orders, contracts, internal resource assignments, and ensure accurate forecasts and accruals are maintained in SAP and Planview
  • Coordinate the completion of all documentation, project plans, change requests, approvals, lifecycle steps and compliance gate requests in a timely manner to ensure the project continues to align with the agreed schedule
  • Any additional duties and responsibilities that may be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role

Successful candidates will possess the following skills/capabilities:

  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level, preferably in IT or similar field
  • Experience in successfully managing the delivering of IT Solutions in Applications delivery and Transformation projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally in a global Finance/Insurance or regulated industry will place you in a higher PM Job family
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation
  • Ability to lead and direct the project under a unified project lens without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints
  • Ability to work in complex organization structures and tenaciously forge a path for delivery resulting in delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, strong experience in managing the diverging interests of various stakeholders
  • Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarize project health status for stakeholder presentations
  • Proven ability to manage and track project costs and budgets to agreed baselines
  • Ability to drive a mixture of functional and geographic workstreams and co-ordinate step change delivery to the business in a unified way
  • Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing
  • A self-motivated individual able to work with varying organizational and geographic styles to the end goal of unifying and standardizing the delivery culture and capability
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Willingness to travel internationally

The Company is open to considering candidates in Princeton, NJ. The salary range posted below applies to the Company's Princeton location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $104,200 - $152,800 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
