The Enterprise Data Organization is looking for an experienced Senior Scrum Master to join us in driving our transformation to Agile ways of working. The Senior Scrum Master's primary role is to be a servant leader and coach for one or more Agile teams. This person will help educate the team in Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed and aligns with The Hartford's Enterprise Business Delivery Model. They also help remove impediments, and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.
The responsibilities of a Senior Scrum Master include:
  • Effectively lead multiple scrum teams and facilitate release planning
  • Enhance cross scrum team communication and dependency management
  • Partners with the Product Owner, IT/EDO Lead, RTE and Business leadership to form execution delivery plans and manage progress
  • Coaches the Product Owner, Development Team, Technology and Business Leaders, and other Scrum Masters on Scrum values, principles and best practices
  • Identifies and resolves gaps in skills, processes, and resources
  • Assess and improve the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Provides information regarding team health: people, process, progress and overall satisfaction to Technology and Business Leaders
  • Build a trust and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on problem solving.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Sr. Scrum Master for a development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory at a program level
  • 5+ years of experience in any part of the software development lifecycle; Preferred prior experience with successful enablement of Data Delivery initiatives
  • Knowledge of Agile approaches such as Scrum, ART, SAFe etc.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of an Organization
  • A strategic thinker who can look beyond the sprint, beyond the Program Increment with a focus on ensuring teams are focused on providing the higher business value to our customers
  • Experience using agile toolsets such as CA Agile (Rally software)
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred:
  • Minimum of first level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
  • Insurance knowledge, especially Group Benefits knowledge.
  • Prior Data Analysis competencies and experience with successful enablement of Data Delivery initiatives such as data warehousing or reporting/analytical projects

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$108,800 - $163,200
