Job description

Lake Forest Community High School is seeking a full-time School Psychologist Intern for the 2026-2027 school year.
Description: Lake Forest School District school psychology internship offers tremendous breadth and depth of experiences. Interns will work within a multi-tiered system of support to perform a variety of duties in preparation for independent, professional practice. The internship is 5 school days a week from the start of the school year until the end of the school year. The internship provides a $20,000 stipend. Depending on the intern's training needs and interests, more focus may be given to a particular level of support, or type of service. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 
  • Member of core problem solving team.
  • Academic and behavioral screening
  • Standardized assessment (cognitive, academic, and social-emotional initial and re-evaluations as well as specialized assessment for low-incidence/self-contained populations)
  • Curriculum based assessment
  • Report writing and preparation/completion of IEP paperwork
  • Complete case study evaluations and facilitate eligibility/entitlement determinations
  • Facilitate IEP domain meetings and maintain compliance for (re)-evaluations
  • Provide therapeutic intervention/counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral needs
  • Social skills intervention/training (using social cognitive or behavioral methods based on students' abilities)
  • Academic support (consultation to develop interventions and monitor effectiveness)
  • Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
  • Assessment and intervention for students age 18-22 in the district's Transition program
  • System level support opportunities
  • Teacher/parent consultation
  • Progress monitoring
  • 504 Plan Eligibility and Development
  • Various data management and research opportunities
 
Qualifications:
  • Endorsement from a NASP and CAEP approved university program (Verified through ISBE form 73-44 "Notification of School Service Personnel Intern Eligibility Status").
In addition, ideal candidates will possess the following qualities:
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Demonstrate mastery of school psychology coursework
  • Developing consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
  • Possess the organization and time management skills needed to handle multiple responsibilities
  • Aware of own limitations and seeks guidance when needed
  • Comfortable working independently once an activity has been adequately explained/supervised
  • Mutual fit between intern and LFHS

Salary and Benefits:
  • $20,000.00/Stipend. No additional benefits associated with this position
