Strategic Initiatives Program Manager

A1 Garage Door Service

Phoenix, AZ • Remote

Full-time

Job description

A1 Garage Door Service is one of the fastest-growing home services companies in the country, and our PMO exists to make sure that growth doesn't outrun our ability to deliver on it. This is a build role, not a maintenance role — you'll be handed the initiatives with the highest visibility in the company and asked to bring order, momentum, and results.

The Growth Initiatives Program Manager is a program manager who drives A1 Garage Door Service's highest-impact, horizontal initiatives. This person will champion and drive A1's strategy and execution framework and own some of the company's key initiatives, such as acquisition integration. When integration is live, it is this role's top priority — owned end to end from diligence handoff through close and full onboarding of the new market. Between integrations, the work shifts to strengthening enterprise execution through process and tool optimization, including the company-wide Asana rollout.

Every initiative is different — some are multi-month, cross-functional builds; others are fast-moving fixes a team needs unblocked this week. This role flexes to fit both.

What You’ll Do

  • Own Acquisition Integrations — when a deal is live, this is the top priority:

    • Own the integration timeline, from following the diligence process after a signed LOI through close and full onboarding, keeping every workstream (Ops, HR/Payroll, IT, Marketing, Dispatch, Finance) accountable to the plan.

    • Right-size the approach for each deal, scaling process and effort to match the acquisition — from large multi-technician companies to phone-number-only buys.

    • Coordinate cross-functionally with Regional VPs, Area Managers, HR, IT, Marketing, and Finance to sequence every dependency: employee onboarding, scheduling training, phone number porting, and rebranding.

    • Travel to acquired markets as needed to support onsite data collection, hands-on diligence work, and town halls.

    • Support in-person town halls with acquired staff, typically the day after close, delivering clear, honest, and compassionate communication to people whose roles and reporting lines are changing.

    • Review, validate, and clean CRM data once the acquired company's customer history has been merged into our ServiceTitan account, so field teams don't lose years of customer contact information and job history.

    • Track and report status across all active integrations, flagging risks and blockers early and keeping leadership informed with clear, concise updates.

    • Pick up whatever the role needs — stepping into new tasks and unfamiliar systems as integrations surface work that doesn't fit neatly into one department.

    • Build and improve playbooks and checklists that make each new integration faster and more consistent than the last.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Growth Initiatives — own and run A1's other highest-impact, horizontal initiatives, tracking, escalating, and pushing each to on-time completion with leaders across Operations, Marketing, Finance, HR, IT, and Growth.

  • Champion the Strategy Framework enabled by Asana Rollout — serve as the organization's deep Asana expert, building workspaces, templates, reporting, and training new teams as adoption expands.

  • Diagnose and Fix Broken Processes — redesign process gaps, particularly where a clean process needs to exist before a tool or system can be implemented.

  • Report Up with Clarity — produce structured notes, status updates, and decision-ready materials across the full initiative portfolio, keeping leadership aligned on progress.

  • Run the CEO's Idea Funnel — own intake, ICE scoring, triage, and weekly digests so good ideas move from submission to execution.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in project/program management, business operations, or a similar cross-functional execution role

  • Deep, hands-on Asana expertise — building workspaces, custom fields, and reporting, not just using Asana as an end user

  • Experience with process mapping and process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent practical experience) comfortable designing a process before it gets built into a tool

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage several concurrent initiatives with competing deadlines and stakeholders without dropping details

  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed, bringing structure to a fast-moving, PE-backed environment without slowing it down

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across audiences, from frontline teams to senior leadership — able to translate messy, in-progress work into clear updates for executives

  • M&A integration or multi-site/multi-market operations experience is a strong plus

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be strongly considered

Key Attributes for Success

  • Horizontal Operator — comfortable moving across functions and initiatives rather than owning one narrow lane, and builds the working relationships in each department that keep work moving.

  • Priority Shifter — can drop into an integration and make it the top priority the moment one goes live, without losing the thread on everything else.

  • Systems-Minded — thinks in process and structure first, tools second.

  • Calm Under Pressure — manages critical timelines and high-visibility work with composure.

  • Hands-On Owner — leads from inside the work rather than above it: takes personal ownership of outcomes, stays in the details until they're finished, and steps in directly to absorb workload and provide relief for operational teams when the work demands it.

Why This Role

  • Direct Line to Company KPIs — performance is measured against the metrics the executive team and our ownership group prioritize most, not peripheral activity.

  • Breadth of Exposure — the role spans every function in the business, building operational fluency that typically takes years to accumulate.

  • Genuine Ownership — this position leads, rather than supports, several of A1's highest-stakes initiatives, including live acquisition integrations.

  • Defined Growth Path — the role is structured as a platform for advancement into broader program, operations, or functional leadership.

Additional Information

  • Travel — expect periodic travel to acquired and existing markets, concentrated around integration milestones such as close and town halls.

  • Physical requirements — primarily office-based work, with occasional time in the field at branch and jobsite locations.
