The Opportunity

There is never a dull moment on this strategic effort, a cornerstone for the nation's security. The Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Program will completely replace the aging Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM, an undertaking not performed in over 50 years. This program is considered a "mega-project" and one of the most complex in the history of the Department of Defense. The new ICBM weapon system acquisition effort brings with it the newest digital engineering tools and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to meet existing warfighter requirements, while having the adaptability and flexibility to affordably address changing technology and threat environments through 2075. As part of the U.S. Air Force's Integration Support Contract (ISC), BAE Systems provides advisory and assistance services in the areas of engineering, logistics, management, scientific analysis, and other subject matter expertise to augment and optimize management of the Sentinel ICBM Prime Contractor.

Responsibilities
  • Software integration and implementation.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans to guide the acquisition process effectively.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and cross-functional teams, to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Requirements Management: Work Closely with the customer to understand and document project requirements, ensuring they are clearly defined and achievable within project constraints.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the acquisition process, conducting thorough risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.
  • Schedule Management: Monitor project progress against Earned Value (EV) Metrics and planned schedules, utilizing EV tools and techniques to identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions to keep the program on schedule.
  • Cost Management: Utilize EVM principles to manage project expenditures against earned value metrics and allocated budgets, tracking expenses and recommend cost-saving measure to maximize value for the program.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet the requirement, standards, and customer expectations.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with all relevant DoD Acquisition regulations, policies, and procedures, including FAR and DFARS requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the acquisition process, implementing best practices and lessons learned to enhance program outcomes and performance.
  • Communication: Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders, provide updates on project status, milestones achieved, and key decisions to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the program.
  • Leadership: Ensure a cohesive and dynamic team atmosphere, guiding and supporting project team members under the oversight of the leadership to optimize their capabilities and enhance their contributions to the program.

Required Skills and Education
  • An accredited Bachelors degree in Business, Project Management or related technical field.
  • 10 years (with BS) or 8 years (with MS) of directly related experience.
  • Between 3 and 5 years of demonstrated experience in engineering or management support of defense systems, technology, or research and development activities.
  • Experience integrating, developing, and deploying software.
  • Ability to provide independent critical evaluation of design development and integration.
  • Excellent cognitive, communication (both written and spoken), and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and all necessary special program accesses (the criteria for obtaining and maintaining a security clearance is set by the US Government and you must be a US Citizen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and collaboration, to foster teamwork and build positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project status, updates, and key decisions to stakeholders through presentations, meeting, or reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, evaluate alternatives, and make data-driven decisions to drive project success.
