Position Summary
The Lead Director, Vendor Implementations will lead a team of Senior Managers responsible for executing complex vendor implementation programs for Aetna Interoperability. Working with the Business General Manager, this role is accountable for executing the strategy, and for leadership direction for implementation delivery, while ensuring the team drives strong execution, governance, risk management, and stakeholder alignment. The person in this role will build team capability, establish clear accountability, and ensure vendor implementations are delivered consistently, effectively, and at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior Managers who oversee vendor implementations
Set implementation priorities, operating rhythms, and delivery expectations across the team
Ensure implementation programs are managed with clear governance, milestones, risk management, and escalation pathways
Support Senior Managers in driving alignment across business, operational, technical, and vendor stakeholders
Partner with internal leaders and external vendors to resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum
Establish clear reporting, portfolio visibility, and executive-ready status updates
Monitor resource needs, portfolio risks, and cross-program dependencies
Strengthen implementation processes, tools, and best practices to improve consistency and scalability
Foster a team culture grounded in development, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Leadership Profile
This leader is able to lead through others while staying close enough to the work to identify risks, remove barriers, and improve execution quality. They build trust, create accountability, and help Senior Managers grow while maintaining momentum across a complex portfolio.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience leading complex programs, implementations, or strategic initiatives
Experience managing people leaders or senior individual contributors in a matrixed environment
Experience overseeing third-party vendor implementations or large cross-functional delivery efforts
Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and team development
Strong program and portfolio leadership skills, including governance, prioritization, and risk management
Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and align multiple functions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading enterprise-scale Interoperability implementations or transformation efforts
Experience building or evolving implementation operating models and delivery governance
Familiarity with change management and stakeholder engagement
Advanced degree or relevant program management certification
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
