Children's Coordinator
Position Information

$37,000 - $51,000 annually

Summary of Position
The Children’s Coordinator helps nurture the faith of our youngest disciples, creating a joyful and welcoming environment where children can encounter God’s love and grow in Christ. Through creative programs, engaging worship experiences, and meaningful relationships, this role lays a foundation for lifelong faith. By partnering with families and volunteers, the coordinator helps Christ Church live out its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ and its vision to be a community transformed by grace, love, and service.
Essential Functions
  1. Implement church wide Children’s Ministry (birth through 5th grade) curriculum (Christ Church Kids and Family Worship services) in a properly contextualized manner for the Butterfield Campus for Saturday evening and additional programs, like Vacation Bible School  

  1. Manage church database (registration, background checks, new family follow-ups etc.) of all Children’s Ministry participants and volunteers at the Butterfield Campus  

  1. Work directly with the Shared Services Children’s Ministry team to align programming across both campuses  

  2. Recruit, train, and equip all Children’s Ministry volunteers to partner in leading the ministry through the Jethro Model of leadership

 Other Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in Christ Church staff life by attending all-staff meetings, church sponsored events, worship, training events and contributing to a culture of collaboration and encouragement.  
  • Support church-wide initiatives and special events – assist with Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day services, outreach and mission events by serving in flexible roles beyond primary ministry responsibilities.  

  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching or mentoring, in order to grow as a leader and servant of Christ.  

  • Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.  

  • Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships and service to others.  

  • Maintain a posture of flexibility by assisting with projects or assignments outside the immediate scope of the role when needed.  

  • Contribute to a culture of grace, care and prayer by being available to support, encourage and pray with staff and volunteers and congregants as appropriate. 

  • Teach in Children’s Ministry classrooms on Sunday morning, as needed 

  • Assist in Family Worship services as needed 

  • Coordinate and plan events such as the Back to School Bash, Parent's Night Out, etc. 

  • Program/Event Coordination and Logistical Support  
    This function encompasses the comprehensive planning and execution of all departmental and organizational events, ensuring they run smoothly and align with the broader institution's goals. Key activities involve managing event logistics, coordinating necessary resources, and ensuring seamless collaboration across different departments.  

  • Information and Records Management  
    This vital function involves maintaining accurate, organized, and accessible data systems. The assistant is responsible for inputting, updating, and managing organizational records and files—such as volunteer information, attendance data, and contact lists—to ensure data integrity and compliance with institutional procedures.  

  • Communication and Scheduling Management  
    This function focuses on facilitating effective information flow and organizational efficiency. It includes managing the official calendars to prevent scheduling conflicts, prioritizing appointments, handling all inbound and outbound correspondence, and acting as the primary liaison on behalf of their supervisor or director.

  • Casting vision and aligning ministry with Christ Church’s mission 

  • Providing coaching, encouragement, and prayerful support 

  • Offering clarity, accountability, and feedback for growth 

  • Helping develop gifts and leadership capacity

Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: 5 years | Childcare setting required, church setting preferred

Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThis job travels between the Butterfield campus and the Oak Brook campus for meetings. One is required to lift young children, up to 35 about pounds. One will be running the children's summer program, a week-long camp in summer that will require prolonged standing and moving around. It is preferred that one assists the Family and Student Ministry teams across campuses with retreats and camps as allowed in one's work schedule.
