Description

The Senior Manager, Radiology is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing radiology operations, quality, and safety. This role provides strategic leadership across multiple modalities and initiatives to ensure consistent workflow, compliance, safety, and performance outcomes. The Senior Manager works collaboratively with technologists, nurses, supervisors, physicians, and administrative stakeholders to foster a culture of high reliability, continuous improvement, and service excellence. This position supports a broad range of functions, including quality and safety oversight, regulatory and accreditation compliance, financial management, capital planning, staffing, and project execution. May also oversee direct reports, including supervisors, managers, and multidisciplinary teams, while aligning departmental initiatives with broader operational and strategic goals.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Focus leadership over core initiatives, more effective coordination among departments, and structured staff development. Link to frontline quality staff, leading challenges related to bandwidth, timely project execution, and consistent oversight across locations. Ensure consistent implementation of high-reliability practices, proactive accreditation readiness, and effective communication. Maintain the integrity of the quality programs amid continued growth and complexity. Focus on tactical implementation, including oversight of SAFE events, policy management, accreditation readiness, analytics integration, and strategic initiatives.
  • Plays a crucial role in supporting quality measurement, analysis, compliance, and improvement for the Department of Radiology. Collaborate with stakeholders within the department and system peers, facilitates interventions, implements processes, and analyzes procedures to enhance quality metrics.
  • Serve as an educational resource for quality improvement, internal process enhancements, and external regulatory compliance. Develop and implement initiatives with all stakeholder groups to streamline and ensure efficiency.
  • Responsible for managing the Radiology policy database, maintaining ACR Accreditation, and overseeing technologists' exposure to quality development pathways.

Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence:

  • Identify and drive clinical and operational improvement efforts
  • Utilize data mining techniques and business intelligence tools to convert data into actionable information.
  • Identify trends and emerging problems, promptly reporting them and seeking solutions. Responsible to stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative approaches into the role's responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the Epic and analytics team to establish processes, standards, and opportunities for knowledge sharing.
  • Engage with business leaders and data consumers to drive process improvement and optimize data utilization.
  • Develop metrics and dashboards in partnership with clinical departments, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Work with local leaders to ensure sustainability of quality improvement projects.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to staff members and department leaders, provide guidance and support for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and financial outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and execute on improvement projects.

Education, Collaboration and Communication:

  • Oversee departmental training programs to educate radiology staff on quality improvement methodologies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to assess learning needs and create tailored educational materials and resources.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to ensure staff members and leaders are knowledgeable and skilled in quality improvement processes.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of education programs through assessments and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with external organizations and professional networks to identify and incorporate industry best practices into the educational curriculum.
  • Track and document staff participation and completion of educational programs, maintaining accurate records.
  • Responsible to provide ongoing support and resources to staff members engaged in quality improvement projects, offering guidance and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Evaluate the impact of education and training initiatives on quality improvement outcomes and make recommendations for improvement.

Regulatory Compliance and Program Development:

  • Manage, coordinate, and provide education and leadership to ensure the department meets regulatory requirements.
  • Work with compliance and accreditation specialists to ensure hospital departments operate safely and comply with accrediting and regulatory bodies.
  • Standardize and enhance programs across hospitals, promoting compliance and effective communication.
  • Ensure the Radiology policy database, is maintained, updated and communicated appropriately.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited radiologic technology program.

Experience - Five (5) years of radiology experience, with at least 3 years in the designated area of specialty. Minimum of Two (2) years of management experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required):

  • Extensive expertise in radiology and quality improvement methodologies, data literacy, operational applications, and continuous process improvement techniques.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, excels in building strong and effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders to drive compliance, and standardization.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, effectively managing and mentoring staff while ensuring workflow efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enable them to convey complex messages and present information to diverse audiences, and to streamline communication across diverse teams.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications Experience: Three (3) years of management experience. Work Conditions: Travel, less than 10% of the time may be required.

Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
