Job description

Job Overview:
The Market Development Manager (MDM) will provide strategic planning, market activation and account/market analytics for the assigned PB DSD area. The position will actively identify local opportunities to drive volume, grow margins and close distribution and availability gaps. The MDM role will collaborate with the Territory Sales Managers, Regional Account Directors, National Account Executives, Regional Account Executives, and local supply chain team members to communicate, customize, and deliver on corporate brand initiatives. This role reports to the Director of Market Development.
Responsibilities:
Market Activation
  • Tailor corporate brand promotion plans to the local market (calendars, events, incentives).
  • Exploit national marketing programs, properties, POS tools and local media buys to make them relevant for the area and create customer selling advantages for PB DSD.
  • Communicate Commercial Priorities and inspect in-market activation
  • Create local promotion and sampling events.
  • Activate appropriate consumer purchase incentives (OBM coupons) from Shopper Marketing.
  • Drive promotional plans/program for local and allied brands.
  • Develop and communicate route sales incentives, track, rank and post results.
  • Perform post promotion analysis.

Analysis
  • Analysis of IRI data relative to performance, opportunities and competitors.
  • Monthly review of all measured channels focusing on critical score card metrics.
  • Use Margin Minder to evaluate distribution, pricing and merchandising opportunities for the market/channel/accounts.

Strategy
  • Develop local programs that drive and support Gold Standard Execution
  • Provide persuasive selling facts to support key account selling (insights and appropriate brand and market information).
  • Seek opportunities across retail channels for the PB portfolio priorities.
  • Develop and manage the annual brand calendar to balance the brand initiatives and incentives.
  • Work with the regional allied brand companies to develop the annual calendar and programs.
  • Manage special projects as assigned

Total Rewards:
  • Salary range $86,000 $110,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of previous sales or marketing experience, creative marketer, analytical thinking and strategic forward thinking
  • 2 years supervisory management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience building analysis-driven spreadsheets and executive-ready presentations
  • 2 years experience with Margin Minder
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience influencing and partnering with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Travel: 25%
