Job description

Learning & Development Manager
About Us
Verde Capital Management (VCM) is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) dedicated to delivering exceptional client service and innovative financial solutions. Our mission is to guide and educate our clients, helping them achieve their financial goals. Our team embodies unique values that drive the success of our clients and the company every day.
Are you ready to fuel the growth and mastery of a premier wealth management team?
We're hiring a Learning and Development Manager to join us on-site at our Clarkston, Michigan headquarters!
Forget the rigid corporate grind. Join VCM and become the driving force behind our frontline success! Unlike an L&D role at a massive brokerage, you won't be managing a small piece of someone else's puzzle; you will be defining the entire picture. You will have a seat at the table to define how we work. You are building the "Playbook" that will allow us to scale from our current size to 10x that without losing our quality of service. You are the architect of the ultimate VCM employee and client experience, ensuring every team member is equipped to deliver financial greatness.
Role Impact Statement
This role owns the design, development, and execution of the learning strategy (for both new and established team members) and is accountable for sustained performance, SEC compliance alignment, and the measurable impact of the training program.
Key Responsibilities
1. Knowledge Management & Systems Architecture
  • Process Documentation: Partner with Financial Advisors, Operations, and Client Experience teams to translate complex workflows into searchable, user-friendly digital playbooks.
  • Tool Selection & Implementation: Identify and launch the firm's "Source of Truth" platform to house our SOPs, policies & procedures, and firm-wide intelligence.
  • Course Development: Design, build, and maintain course content from scratch-including e-learning modules, facilitator guides, job aids, and assessments-using available tools and resources.

2. Full-Cycle Training Delivery
  • Elite Onboarding: Design a "First 90 Days" journey that integrates new hires into our culture, values, and tech stack with speed and precision.
  • Technical & Soft Skills: Lead dual-track training covering both technical software mastery (Salesforce, Black Diamond, Nitrogen, eMoney) and interpersonal leadership skills (client communication, empathy, and professional growth).

3. Strategy & Autonomous Leadership
  • Strategy: Independently assess organizational learning needs and develop a comprehensive annual L&D strategy and calendar with minimal direction.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Identify gaps in the current learning ecosystem and propose creative, scalable solutions before being asked.
  • Vendor Management: Manage external training relationships as needed, including selection, contracting, and evaluation of specialized resources.

4. Compliance & Risk Mitigation
  • NASAA Regulatory Education: Lead the development and delivery of training content that meets NASAA Investment Adviser Representative Continuing Education (IAR CE) requirements, ensuring all advisors maintain the highest standards of professional and regulatory competency.
  • SEC Alignment: Ensure all training delivery and documentation strictly aligns with SEC and FINRA requirements.
  • Audit Preparedness: Maintain meticulous, "exam-ready" records of training participation and policy acknowledgments to serve as proof of firm-wide competency.

Cultural Alignment: The Verde Values
We are looking for a teammate who doesn't just "fit" our culture but elevates it. At VCM, we live by these eight principles:
  • Impact & Passion: Exhibit a bias-to-action to accomplish amazing amounts of work. Inspire others with a thirst for excellence and a natural curiosity for learning.
  • Innovation & Selflessness: Minimize complexity to find simpler, better approaches. Be ego-less when searching for the best ideas and share information proactively.
  • Communication & Honesty: Listen well to understand before reacting. Be self-aware. Be known for kind candor, directness, and treating everyone with respect regardless of status.
  • Dependability & Courage: Take full responsibility for your decisions and navigate challenges with sound judgment. Take smart risks and speak up, even if it's controversial.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 3-5 years in L&D, preferably within Financial Services, Fintech, or a high-growth startup environment. Proven experience in designing and executing all aspects of a training program.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree required.
  • Location: Must be able to work 100% in-person at our Clarkston, Michigan office.
  • The "Builder" Mindset: You are energized by a blank slate. You prefer creating systems from scratch rather than maintaining legacy programs.
  • Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Tech-Forward: You prioritize efficiency and utilizing all the modern documentation tools.
  • Regulatory Literacy: Comfortable navigating compliance frameworks; prior experience with FINRA, SEC, or NASAA regulations is highly preferred.

Investment in You: Compensation & Benefits
At VCM, we believe that to deliver exceptional service, our team must be fueled, fit, and focused.
  • Competitive Compensation:
$90,000 - $125,000 (Base + Quarterly Bonus), based on experience.
  • VCM Culinary Experience: Breakfast and lunch provided daily by our Corporate Chef (free). Optional dinner available for purchase.
  • Elite Wellness: 24/7 on-site fitness center with daily group workouts led by a Personal Trainer.
  • Ownership: Bonus opportunities through our Employee Stock Bonus program and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Future-Proofing: Generous 401(k) matching.
  • Flexible Time Off (FTO): Take the time you need, ensuring the mission continues and work is completed.
  • Financial Mastery: 50% off financial coaching and discounted planning services provided by the VCM team.
  • Community-Based Medical Cost Sharing: Instead of traditional health insurance, we offer a comprehensive medical cost-sharing membership through Sedera, which serves as an innovative alternative for managing large, unexpected healthcare costs through a community-based model.
  • Employer Assistance Plan (EAP): In lieu of a vision or dental plan we have an EAP that gives you $1,200 per year ($100) per month for any medical expenses. You are free to also save this money to your HSA if you choose.

How to Apply
Attention to detail is a core requirement for this role.
  1. A Cover Letter and Resume are strictly required for consideration.
  2. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be reviewed.

In your cover letter, please tell us why you are the right fit to build a foundational L&D program for Verde Capital Management.
