Job description

Intern Opportunity

We're looking for a sharp, self-starter intern who is eager to learn the mechanics of complex, multi-stakeholder project delivery within the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Commercializing innovation is hard. We make it easier. By bridging the gap between incumbents and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, we deliver the full innovation life cycle from strategy to development to launch. ADL helps energy & infrastructure companies Assess, Develop and Launch new products, services and startups โ€” and we lead innovation programs sponsored by DOE, NREL, and more! At ADL Ventures, our team is equal parts entrepreneurs and executives who have worked in innovation, R&D and corporate development for major institutions. We know how to be nimble when needed, and we understand the inherent pressures of bringing new products to market and scaling new businesses. We are accustomed to working across the entire lifecycle of a company, as well as with government institutions that act as pillars of each industry with incentives, regulations and key programming. Together, we inspire and energize a clean and vibrant world by rewriting the rules of engagement among new ventures, legacy organizations and governments.

We are looking for self-starting interns interested in how large infrastructure and innovation programs are designed and executed across industry and government.

Interns support initiatives related to industrialized construction, federal programs, infrastructure delivery, and emerging technologies. Projects often involve collaboration between government agencies, industry partners, and research organizations.

This role offers hands-on exposure to projects focused on improving how infrastructure is designed, manufactured, and delivered, often with the goal of doing more with fewer resources and reducing waste across the built environment.

What You'll Do

  • Support project teams by organizing workstreams, tracking tasks, and coordinating documentation.
  • Assist with research and analysis related to infrastructure programs, delivery models, and emerging technologies.
  • Help structure project materials such as budgets, analytical frameworks, and research.
  • Participate in workshops and working sessions, documenting insights and tracking action items.
  • Contribute to presentations and reports used by industry partners and government agencies.

Potential Focus Areas

Project Delivery: Industrialized construction, product development, infrastructure delivery models, and supply chain optimization.

Data & Analytics: Industry research, data analysis, and modeling of project economics or delivery frameworks.

Policy & Federal Programs: Federal procurement models, government innovation programs, and infrastructure policy analysis.

Technology & Innovation: AI and digital tools applied to infrastructure delivery, product development, and technology commercialization.

What We're Looking For

Students currently pursuing degrees in business, economics, strategy, public policy, data science, computer science, machine learning, federal procurement, architecture, civil engineering and industrial engineering should all consider applying.

Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, clear communication, curiosity about infrastructure and innovation systems, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. An entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to high-quality work are essential.

What You'll Gain

  • Exposure to real-world innovation programs
  • Experience working across industry, government, and research partners
  • Opportunities to contribute to projects focused on efficiency, resilience, and smarter use of resources in the built environment
  • Work alongside nationally recognized team members with deep expertise in their fields.

Commercializing innovation is hard. We make it easier.

ADL Ventures helps energy and construction organizations Assess, Develop, and Launch new products, services, and ventures. We work at the intersection of technology, policy, and infrastructure delivery, partnering with organizations such as the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other public and private partners

Our work focuses on bringing new technologies and delivery models into real-world deploymentโ€”helping industry and government build infrastructure faster, more efficiently, and with smarter use of resources.

Salary

$15 - $25 per hour
