A bit about you

First things first: whatever your background, there’s a culture of belonging at Hyve — everyone is welcome. The question isn’t where you’ve come from, but where you want to go. You’ll thrive here if you’re curious, collaborative, and not afraid to challenge convention. We look for people who take pride in what they do, who are excited by change, and who always move forward. Our shared behaviors guide how we work: we dare to do things differently, own our work, embrace collaboration, stay true to ourselves and others, and remember that optimism wins. About Shoptalk

Shoptalk is known worldwide as the retail industry’s premier event. Customers attend Shoptalk and Groceryshop events to hear from leading minds, engage in an unmissable atmosphere, enjoy unforgettable experiences, and explore opportunities to shape the future of retail.

A bit about the role

Shoptalk is looking for a Business Development Director to join our US team and drive sponsorship sales across Shoptalk Spring, Fall, and Groceryshop. This is a 100% new business role — we are seeking an innate “hunter” who enjoys sourcing and closing new deals and clients. You will be comfortable finding your own leads, prospecting, and creatively sourcing new relationships and clients. If you have 3+ years of sales experience (ideally in large conferences/events) and want to be part of in-person events shaping the future of retail, we’d love to hear from you.

As part of your job, you’ll be focused on

  • New Business Development
  • Meet and exceed individual and team sales targets
  • Independently identify, prospect and close new sponsorship partnerships
  • Establish relationships with C-suite and senior decision-makers in the retail technology and solutions space
  • Develop creative partnership opportunities tailored to clients
  • Respond to customer inquiries quickly and prioritize activities across different stages of the sales process
  • Utilize our CRM to track and report account activity accurately and timely
  • Be obsessive about customer experience from prospecting through event execution
  • Collaborate with other sales team members and other departments
Here’s what we’re looking for
  • 5+ years of consultative sales experience, ideally within tech events in the US
  • Strong network and knowledge of retail technology suppliers
  • Proven ability to generate and close large sponsorship or partnership deals
  • Experience selling retail technology solutions or sponsorship-based event partnerships
  • Track record of negotiating and closing high-value commercial deals
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed revenue targets (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Strong experience managing sales pipelines and forecasting revenue
  • Skilled at account mapping and developing new business through strategic relationship-building
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercially driven with an entrepreneurial mindset to thrive in a high-growth environment
The benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Eligible for a competitive bonus structure
  • Full medical, dental, and vision package
  • Retirement plan with company match (401K)
  • Competitive vacation policy

Ready to make some great experiences? Ready to start your Hyve adventure? Apply now.
