Job description

About the Role

To Support U.S. Urology Partners and it's affiliate by assisting the physicians and APC Nurse Navigator with patient care needs and treatment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Mails "Intro to APC" packets to all new APC referrals as directed by navigator

  • Evaluates the needs of all new APC patients to obtain financial information and to identify barriers (financial, emotional, etc) at new patient APC consult visit

  • Completes the Patient Navigator checklist (electronically)

  • Performs necessary process for obtaining financial assistance

  • Maintains an up-to-date list of all patients actively receiving financial assistance to include pertinent grant information

  • Assists in identifying / scheduling / referring patients to outside services

  • Provides weekly provider schedule grid reports and assignment schedule

  • Assists with creation and maintenance of provider schedules (APC blocks) and new APC consult appointments

  • Answers calls and /or checks voicemail and routes calls appropriately

  • Maintains call log

  • References inventory supply log and orders supplies and distributes accordingly

  • Assists with updating APC patient tracker

  • Maintains electronic patient treatment calendar

  • Actively participates in survivor outreach

  • Performs APC document management

  • Participates in APC educational opportunities as presented

  • Maintains communication with the Pharmacy Technician

  • Documents all patient interaction, calls, and or tasks involved in the care of the APC patient

  • Maintains strict confidentiality

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma with previous medical facility/office experience

  • One year experience in a medical practice setting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance verification and pre-authorization process

Preferred

  • MA certification or phlebotomy certificate

  • EMR documentation experience

  • Knowledge of medical billing or willingness to learn

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn excel to assist in data tracking

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of people.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer software.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, approximately 8 hours per workday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Salary Range:

$19.00 - $25.00 per hour
