Job description

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Service and Product Associate to join our team at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital. This is a part time position working 40 hours every two weeks. Scheduled hours for this role are Monday - Friday 5:00 am - 9:00 am  This position is represented by the SEIU union.

To receive, deliver, replenish, clean, and maintain appropriate equipment/supplies/linen/forms. To assist with maintaining inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, deliver, replenish, clean, and maintain supplies/equipment/linen/forms including stat room, patient rooms, inventory locations, and other areas, as appropriate.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels of equipment and supplies. Understanding of inventory control concepts with the ability to calculate par levels and adjust levels as necessary.
  • Identify product name, purpose, and connection (if any) with other products.
  • Coordinate the delivery of items arriving at the dock; assemble apply/remove properly tag/transmitter, and log into computer.
  • Respond to user/Materials Support Center requests for equipment/supplies/linen/forms with special attention to emergency request.
  • Assure that excess inventory in totes is accounted for, documented, and properly routed.
  • Match instruments from the Central Processing Center (CPC) to surgical supply pathway packs and linen packs.
  • Conduct cycle counts on a routine basis, identifying inventory require adjustments.
  • Assure appropriate rotation of rental equipment.
  • Locate/remove products due to product recall/product change.
  • Perform gross decontamination of instruments, clean, rinse, and properly route utensils. Decontaminate and clean patient care equipment such as, but not limited to: IV pumps’ sequential compression devices; syringe pumps’ warmers; respiratory care equipment; blood pressure apparatus’ walkers’ commodes orthopedic apparatus; case carts etc. Decontaminate and clean laboratory glassware; general laboratory waste; etc.
  • Monitor a replace disinfectant in sinks and automatic equipment.
  • Answer telephones as needed.
  • Operate computer for supply requests, equipment requests, equipment tracking, productivity reporting, etc.
  • Follow established policies and procedures.
  • Differentiate between requests; urgent, routine, and emergency (life threatening) for products, supplies, and equipment. Respond to requests and according to priority of emergency, urgent and routine, prioritize patient related needs first.
  • Differentiate between supply usage, routine, special cause, patient volume change and cyclical changes. Alerts Inventory Specialist to inventory variances, stock-outs, and defects, etc.
  • Prioritize meeting inventory needs and patient care needs so there are no short term or long-term negative impacts.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills by listening respectfully, giving balanced feedback directly and honestly, talking with others to clarify differences and utilizing first party communication.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and SPAN staff in making unit inventory decisions.
  • Follow through on caregivers inquires, requests, complaints. Keep caregiver up to date about progress of request.
  • Maintain and assure patient confidentiality
  • Other duties as requested and required.
  • Meets all role-related and age-specific competencies.

  • High school diploma or 2 years of experience
