Position SummaryThe Program Coordinator, Communities in Action (CinA), provides day-to-day coordination and operational support for community-based initiatives that strengthen resident leadership, foster community engagement, and improve access to resources and services. Working collaboratively with residents, volunteers, staff, and community partners, this position coordinates program activities, supports resident engagement initiatives, provides program coordination for case management activities, assists with training and workshop delivery, and oversees volunteer coordination across multiple program areas.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-oriented, and passionate about empowering individuals and communities through collaboration, leadership development, and meaningful civic engagement.
Essential Functions- Coordinate and support implementation of the Resident Leader Academy (RLA), including scheduling, participant communications, attendance tracking, curriculum logistics, and outcome reporting.
- Coordinate and support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of workshops, trainings, community meetings, outreach activities, and resident engagement events.
- Provide program coordination and administrative support for case management activities, including participant tracking, referrals, followup activities, documentation, and coordination with program staff.
- Coordinate program logistics, materials, schedules, communications, and operational processes to support efficient daytoday program delivery.
- Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, and support volunteers while maintaining volunteer records and fostering a positive and meaningful volunteer experience.
- Serve as a liaison between residents, volunteers, staff, and community partners to facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and coordinated service delivery.
- Maintain accurate participant records, program files, reports, and data management systems in accordance with organizational policies, contractual requirements, and funding guidelines.
- Support community outreach and resident engagement efforts designed to increase awareness of available services, strengthen participation, and promote resident leadership opportunities.
- Coordinate logistics and provide support for Resident Leader Academy Council meetings and participate in community meetings, collaborative partnerships, and networking events as assigned.
- Monitor program participation and support data collection, reporting, outcome measurement, and continuous quality improvement efforts to inform program effectiveness and funding requirements.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events, community projects, volunteer initiatives, and organizational activities.
- Support compliance with agency policies, grant requirements, confidentiality standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with residents, community stakeholders, volunteers, and partner organizations while representing Home Start in a professional and communitycentered manner.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Ability to engage effectively with diverse communities using a culturally responsive, strengthsbased, and traumainformed approach.
- Knowledge of community engagement principles, volunteer coordination, and resident leadership development preferred.
- Experience maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and utilizing electronic data management systems.
- Ability to facilitate small groups, trainings, workshops, or community meetings with professionalism and confidence.
- Strong problemsolving skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and webbased information management systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
- Two years of experience coordinating community programs, volunteer initiatives, outreach activities, or human services programs, preferably within a nonprofit or communitybased organization.
- Experience working with diverse populations and communitybased programs preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, based on program needs.
- Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance meeting Home Start requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background clearances and agency onboarding requirements.
Physical Requirements- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel throughout San Diego County for meetings, outreach activities, trainings, and community events.
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends based on program and community needs.
Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a combination of office, community, and field-based settings with frequent interaction with residents, volunteers, community organizations, and partner agencies. Flexibility in scheduling is required to support community meetings, outreach activities, trainings, and special events.
