Supervising Dentist (1099)

Mott Community College is seeking Supervising Dentists to be responsible for supervising patient care provided by the Dental Hygiene students and the Dental Hygiene faculty. Additionally, this will include clinical oversight, consultation, evaluation of any oral abnormalities, radiographic interpretation, dental diagnosis, preventative prescription, and pain management. The Supervising Dentist shall be available for faculty, staff, student and patient consultation and referrals. Supervising Dentists will work closely with the Program Coordinator and Dean to build a robust curriculum. Minimum qualifications include:

  • Doctorate (DDS or DMD) from an accredited dental school.
  • Currently licensed in the State of Michigan.
  • Current Controlled Substance License
  • Currently certified in Health Care Provider BLS/CPR.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions - WORKINGCONDITIONS:The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds as associated with a dental clinic.May, at times, be required to travel between campuses for departmental meetings.PHYSICALDEMANDS:Ability to work in a dental setting with potential exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures must be utilized as required.Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of a Dental Hygienist.Maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, and donors.There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations.Frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting and classrooms rooms, labs, and clinic.There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor.May need to assist in lifting/transferring patients into operatory chairs.Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.Possess the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well.Able to manipulate instruments, supplies, and equipment with speed, dexterity, and exceptional hand-eye coordination.Able to function in an environment with potential latex and/or nitrile material exposure and without an allergic reaction.
