Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Build Your Future at DTCC

As a Business Analyst Intern in IT, you will help connect business process, operational execution, and technology delivery by supporting business process improvement, operational analysis, stakeholder engagement, reporting and insights, and project coordination across DTCC's technology organization. This role is designed for students who are interested in how technology enables business outcomes, how operating processes are improved, and how teams translate strategy into practical solutions. Your work may support operational efficiency, portfolio and service management, technology modernization, reporting, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives while giving you practical exposure to Agile delivery, business analysis techniques, process mapping, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, requirements documentation, and technology operations.

At DTCC, interns contribute to meaningful work while learning how the financial markets operate behind the scenes. You will be part of a structured summer experience that combines team-based project work, training, feedback, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with leaders and peers.

About the Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week experience designed to build a strong foundation for early-career talent. The program includes orientation, training, manager engagement, feedback milestones, networking, and development experiences that help students explore potential full-time career paths, including EDGE, our entry-level development program, where applicable.

What you will gain

  • Hands-on work connected to real business priorities, not only observation or administrative tasks.
  • Structured orientation and training to help you understand DTCC, the industry, and your business area.
  • Manager support, mentorship, peer connection, and opportunities to build your network.
  • Development experiences focused on communication, feedback, professional skills, and career readiness.
  • Mid-point and final feedback to help you understand your strengths, development areas, and potential next steps.
  • Exposure to DTCC culture, values, and community engagement.

What you will do

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with gathering, analyzing, and documenting business needs, operational requirements, process insights, and project objectives that support technology initiatives, process improvement efforts, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, technology teams, operations leads, and project teams to understand business needs, document processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the development of clear project deliverables and recommendations.
  • Map current-state and future-state business processes, identify interdependencies between teams, tools, controls, data, and technology delivery activities, and help recommend improvements that reduce friction and improve execution.
  • Support Agile delivery activities through status tracking, dependency coordination, action-item management, testing support, meeting preparation, and development of materials for team, management, and leadership reviews.
  • Conduct data analysis, reporting, research, testing, and documentation activities to identify trends, develop insights, support issue resolution, and help stakeholders make informed decisions that improve operational governance and continuous improvement.
  • Support the end-to-end data lifecycle by integrating, transforming, validating, and analyzing data from multiple sources to develop reliable data assets, enable reporting and analytics, and deliver insights that support business and technology outcomes.
  • Help maintain job aids, process documentation, workflow summaries, project artifacts, and operating rhythm materials that enable consistent execution across the organization.
  • Contribute to work that improves operational efficiency, visibility, accountability, and alignment across business management, portfolio management, service delivery, and technology operations.

What will help you succeed

Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business & Technology Management or related major
  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2027 or Summer 2028
  • Minimum GPA: 3.2
  • Authorization to work permanently in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Foundational understanding of business analysis, process improvement, data analysis, technology delivery, or operations, demonstrated through coursework, projects, internships, work experience, leadership activities, or relevant student organization involvement.

Preferred

  • Coursework, projects, prior work, internship, student organization, volunteer, or leadership experience related to business analysis, information systems, technology delivery, operations, project coordination, data analysis, process improvement, finance, or risk.
  • Interest in financial services, technology, operations, risk, data, business, or the specific business area.
  • Exposure to tools or concepts such as Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI, Jira, Agile/Scrum, user stories, process mapping, requirements documentation, data visualization, workflow analysis, or technology operations.
  • Interest in understanding how business processes, technology platforms, data, controls, and operating routines work together to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient outcomes in a complex financial services environment.

What makes you successful

  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to ask questions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use feedback and adapt as you learn.
  • Collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.

Benefits and work model

  • Competitive hourly compensation.
  • Hybrid work model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote, based on team schedule.
