Summary:

Bio Supplies operates a plasma processing facility that produces reactive and non-reactive biological materials used in transfusion medicine and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) applications. These materials support the development and manufacturing of controls, calibrators, and assay systems used by diagnostic companies.

Within the corporate group, Bio Supplies provides critical plasma-derived materials to internal diagnostic organizations developing next-generation diagnostic technologies.

The Technical Liaison Manager – Diagnostic Materials will serve as the primary technical interface between Bio Supplies and internal diagnostic business units. This role acts as a bridge between diagnostic R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing teams and Bio Supplies manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams, ensuring that diagnostic raw material requirements are clearly defined, technically feasible, and aligned with operational capabilities.

This position requires a professional with strong experience in the IVD or diagnostics industry, capable of translating scientific and assay development needs into material specifications and coordinating internally to ensure appropriate material availability.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact between Bio Supplies and internal diagnostic business units.
  • Manage ongoing collaboration with stakeholders including diagnostic R&D, assay development teams, and program leaders.
  • Coordinate incoming requests for biological materials including reactive and non-reactive plasma-derived materials.

  • Support multiple internal diagnostic programs across the organization.
  • Contribute to innovation by proactively identifying, proposing, and implementing new processes and approaches beyond existing routine manufacturing practices in collaboration with diagnostic units stakeholders.

Technical Translation & Material Specification

  • Support internal diagnostic teams in defining material characteristics, panel composition, and sample requirements required for proof of concepts, assay development, controls, calibrators, validation, and manufacturing
  • Act as a technical bridge between diagnostic R&D teams and Bio Supplies production, quality, and sourcing teams.
  • Provide guidance on the suitability, availability, and limitations of plasma-derived materials for specific diagnostic applications.
  • Facilitate the transfer of material requirements from development programs into manufacturable specifications.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Development Program Support
    • Provide supplier-side technical support to internal diagnostic development programs.
    • Maintain visibility into program timelines and development milestones in order to anticipate material needs.
    • Ensure that materials required for development, validation, and manufacturing activities are properly specified and communicated internally.
  • Material Demand Visibility & Internal Coordination
    • Collect and consolidate material forecasts and projected needs provided by internal diagnostic teams.
    • Communicate anticipated demand internally to operations, supply chain, and demand planning teams.
    • Coordinate with the internal Supply & Demand Planning function to ensure awareness and alignment regarding expected material needs.
    • Maintain visibility on potential material supply constraints or risks and facilitate communication across stakeholders.
  • Strategic and Operational Support
    • Supporting business development activities related to diagnostic materials.
    • Identifying opportunities to expand Bio Supplies’ support for internal diagnostic programs.
    • Contributing to operational or process improvement initiatives within the plasma processing organization.

  • 5+ years of experience in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD), biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
  • Experience collaborating with diagnostic assay development or R&D teams.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments involving R&D, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Familiarity with biological materials used in diagnostics such as plasma or serum panels, controls and calibrators, antigen–antibody systems, diagnostic assay development workflows, and immunoassay testing platforms.

The estimated pay scale for the Technical Liaison Manager - Diagnostic Materials role based in California, is $88,750.00 0 $133,170.00 . Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool. We offer a wide variety of benefits including, but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays and up to 5% 401(K) match and tuition reimbursement. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
