About the Position

As the Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for assuring the Company provides the highest quality of electrical construction services and that all stated requirements are met with respect to engineering, management, testing, material, codes, installation, workmanship, construction, finish, functional performance, identification, record keeping and customer relations. This position partners with job site personnel and project management team members as appropriate, to ensure high quality project results are achieved, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Day in the Life

  • Plans, documents, and conducts all phases of project quality control and inspections, to include the preparatory phase meeting, the initial phase meeting, follow-up inspections and final phase inspections.
  • Develops all project-specific quality control plans for submission, reviews and approves work plans, and reviews, approves and logs all product submissions.
  • Develops and maintains site-specific test plans and logs. Maintains a log of noncompliance and implements a corrective action program as needed.
  • Maintains and tracks testing vendorsโ€™ qualifications and certifications. Documents, coordinates, and assists in all levels of commissioning efforts.
  • Examines all materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with the approved submittals and contract documents. Inspects for damaged or defective materials, verifies dimensional requirements, and verifies โ€œas-builtโ€ drawings are being maintained.
  • Prepares, distributes, and maintains daily reports summarizing information related to current project status. Reports all safety issues or concerns immediately to the designated safety personnel on site.
  • Maintains awareness of new employees and vendors to sites and implements quality control indoctrination and training programs as needed.
  • Ensures all government and Company requirements related to environmental, safety and health are strictly adhered to and enforced by all parties.
  • Stays informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Establishes, trains, and maintains project quality control policies and processes.
  • Builds strategic and effective relationships with customers, foremen, project team, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups and others that reflect and support the Companyโ€™s core values and meet or exceed the customerโ€™s expectations. Negotiates with vendors as needed.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent work experience in electrical engineering, building construction quality control, or a related field. ACE Quality Management for Contractors certification required. CPR certification and OSHA 10 certification. Electrical Masterโ€™s License or similar electrical-related qualification is also preferred.             
  • Minimum 5+ years of electrical quality control experience, plus experience and skills to read, analyze, and interpret electrical plans, blueprint drawings, specifications, technical data submittals, common scientific and technical journals. Extensive knowledge of construction building and electrical codes.
  • Familiarity with EM385, NESC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 101A and 101B, NFPA 780, LOTO procedures.
  • Experience with and ability to professionally respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and customer representatives, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to clients, stakeholders, senior leadership, and site employees. Must have appropriate strong computer skills and be able to use information technology and specific applications to document and report, using required software.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, then apply appropriate methods and procedures to create and facilitate applicable solutions and alleviate conflict.
  • Extensive experience with project management methodologies, leadership, and practices. Thorough understanding of the project life cycle.             
  • In-depth training and experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
  • Strong business analysis and mathematical skills. Skills to read and interpret financial documents. Strong organizational, critical thinking skills and detail orientation.
  • Excellent customer focus, delegation, presentation, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated high level of integrity and dependability.
  • Superior listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Effective independent problem solving, negotiation, time management and prioritization skills. Strong collaboration, coaching, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse work teams.
