Associate Professor (Physician Associate Program) - Oklahoma Baptist University

Position Summary: This is a 12-month, full-time faculty appointment focused on teaching, advising, service, and scholarship. Program faculty are also involved with all aspects of program administration including student selection, curriculum design and implementation, and assessment of students and the program. Faculty rank and salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The ideal candidate demonstrates teaching excellence, mentoring skills, a growth mindset, and a collaborative attitude.

Responsibilities:
• Providing student instruction through virtual synchronous and asynchronous courses, in-person lectures and labs, simulation activities, and practical exams as assigned.
• Evaluating student performance in alignment with the program’s assessment procedures and program competencies.
• Providing academic counseling to students, including coordinating coaching of an assigned group of advisees.
• Coordinating and/or providing remedial instruction for students when needed, assuring it is available to all students.
• Participating in design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the curriculum.
• Contributing to the development, review, and revision of the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies as needed.
• Assisting with selection of applicants for program admission.
• Participating in program evaluation through self-assessment and document preparation for ARC-PA accreditation.
• Engaging in service, community, and campus relations, and scholarly activities in alignment with the OBU Faculty Handbook.
• Ensure integration of faith into curriculum, mentoring students in their own journey to incorporate their worldview with their role as a PA.
• Performing other duties as requested by the Program Director to support the PA program, the faculty and staff, and the students.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Associate/Assistant, MD, or DO (will be required upon employment). Preference will be given to PAs.
• Current NCCPA certification for PAs (PA-C Emeritus acceptable) or current board certification for physicians
• Must have a master’s degree in either healthcare or education, doctoral degree is preferred
• 3 or more years of clinical experience
• Preference given to candidates with PA or other medical education experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong computer skills and adaptability in learning new software/online platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with students and faculty.
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, program faculty and staff, and clinical staff.
• Excellent critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Superior organization skills.
• Ability to confidently interact as a leader, team member, and collaborative contributor with other departments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and successfully meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
• Record of scholarship, academic teaching experience and effectiveness, and essential interprofessional skills.
• Experience in PA classroom teaching and PA education administration preferred.

Setting and Special Requirements:
• Remote 1.0 FTE faculty position, rank commensurate with experience
• Some on-campus presence is required, especially during intensive on-campus components of the program and to meet leadership expectations
• Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church. *Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
