POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction to participants and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to participants that focuses on building achievement and belonging.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements program within the established guidelines.

2. Supervises the program, assigned rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.

3. Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality

4. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with participants. Engages volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.

5. Maintains program site and equipment.

6. Maintains required program records.

7. Attends staff meetings, and staff training.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and educational credentials in program area.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, licensing required trainings and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

Previous experience working with target program populations.

Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.

Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.

Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.

Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
