Job Summary
SLCC Partnership for Accessing College Education (PACE) is a mentorship and scholarship program created to increase college participation and graduation rates for low-income and first-generation high school students in partnering schools in Salt Lake County. The program designates pre-college advisors to select high schools to support students with high school completion, college admission, and scholarship program requirements. PACE students who complete our high school requirements and enroll at SLCC will continue receiving dedicated advising and scholarships for up to six semesters. The Program Associate II will be part of the PACE Programs team and work collaboratively to support a comprehensive student success strategy. This strategy includes pre-college advising and programming at six Granite and Salt Lake City School District high schools (i.e., Cottonwood, East, Granger, Highland, Kearns, and West), educational events and programming, campus tours, and graduation celebrations for PACE high school graduates. This is an in-person position that requires reliable transportation and traveling to our multiple service sites. Under limited supervision, the Program Associate II will provide support to the PACE Programs advisors and additional team members as necessary. The position's primary responsibilities include the following: Assist in recruitment efforts for the PACE Scholarship Program. Participate in PACE event planning and execution. Co-facilitate or facilitate PACE events and workshops. Assist in the development of PACE student leadership programs. Create a welcoming environment for prospective and current PACE students and families.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
The PACE Program Associate II must:
Be able to commute efficiently between multiple service sites (i.e., six PACE high schools and multiple SLCC campuses).
Motivate, encourage, mentor, and teach students how to navigate and graduate high school, pursue higher education, and access the six-semester PACE Program scholarship to Salt Lake Community College.
Demonstrate initiative, creativity, teamwork, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
Employ excellent communication skills, including active listening and responding skills.
Work collaboratively with other office staff, a variety of campus departments and community personnel.
Gather, process, and organize large amounts of information accurately.
Utilize basic computer operating systems and SLCC's computer systems (My Success, Degree Works, Ring Central).Demonstrate professionalism.

Minimum qualifications
Two (2) years of full-time post-high school education equivalent to 60 credit hours or an Associate degree
Two (2) years of related work experience
Trade-off 1:1 experience/educational requirement
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will go to candidates who have the following:
Bilingual
Experience working in an educational environment
Experience in event planning
Experience mentoring first-generation and low-income students
