Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Saginaw Public Schools Before the Bell/After the Bell employees are responsible for assisting in before school/after school programs in any manner that is requested by the Program Director to help assure a quality program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.         Learn all aspects of the program, which includes recruitment, planning, and evaluation
  2.       Assist in preparation and monitoring of daily snacks
  3.       Assist with sign in/out for students attending the before and after school programs
  4.       Make every effort to develop positive, professional and constructive relationships with children, parents and the local school community
  5.       Attend meetings and training sessions as directed
  6.       Plan and implement a series of program sessions for the regular school year
  7.       Communicate and related to children, staff, parents and supervisors in a professional and positive manner
  8.       Assist in planning and implementing daily programs under the direction of the Program Director
  9.       Plan and prepare a creative learning environment that fits the needs and interests of the children
  10.       Perform other duties as assigned

 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.           Knowledge of age appropriate activities
2.           Knowledge of basic math, grammar and punctuation
3.           Knowledge of child development and learning styles
4.           Skilled in operating classroom equipment
5.           Ability to schedule activities and collate data
6.           Ability to maintain confidentiality
7.           Ability to work with constant interruptions
8.           Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions
9.           Ability to communicate effectively
10.         Ability to work in a multi-cultural, urban setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents and the school community
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:













  1.  High school graduate or equivalent     
  2. Previous experience working with middle/high school aged students preferred        
  3. Previous experience coordinating or facilitating programs preferred
