About this Role:
The Career Pathways program associate will play a critical role in supporting Heights and partners’ Career programming at various partner high schools. The program associate will work closely with the Director of Career Pathways and Heights staff to amplify school year and summer Career programming, plus internship and enrichment opportunities. The associate actively engages with students, offering support and guidance, co-facilitating workshops, and ensuring a positive and enriching experience for participants. Additionally, they will assist in tracking student progress, attendance, collecting feedback, and contributing to the overall success of the program.
You’ll be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of Career Programming under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and Director
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of the program curriculum, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and industry trends
  • Managing various logistical and operational aspects, including scheduling, coordinating guest speakers, organizing industry visits, and preparing materials for program activities
  • Actively engaging with students, providing support, guidance, and co-facilitating workshops to enhance their understanding of business and entrepreneurship concepts
  • Assisting in the facilitation of workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions to foster student learning and skill development
  • Implementing strategies for collecting student feedback, track participant progress, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program
  • Assisting in the coordination of program-related events, ensuring smooth execution and a positive experience for all participants
  • Performing administrative duties such as maintaining participant records, managing communication channels, and supporting the Program Coordinator in day-to-day operations
  • Working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator, other staff members, and external partners to create a cohesive and successful program experience
  • Providing mentorship to students, offering insights into the business and entrepreneurship field, guiding them in their projects, and fostering a supportive learning environment
  • Actively participating in program-related meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay aligned with the program's goals and objectives
About you:
  • Current undergraduate student or recent graduate interested in Career Pathways with a focus on Financial Services and Business, legal, and direct to employment from high school pathways.
  • Prior experience working with adolescents
  • Interest in advancing equitable access to college and career opportunities, especially in Financial Services and Business, legal, and direct to employment fields, among students from underinvested communities
  • Experience with Google Docs, Sheets (or Excel), and Slides
  • Interest in being a near-peer role model and mentor to our high school students
Heights employees:
  • Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
  • Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
  • Must be able to complete an I-9 employment verification form to work in the United States
  • Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
  • Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
  • Must adhere to COVID safety guidelines as established by Heights and/or its partners.
  • Office-based staff should be mindful of the organization’s strong recommendation that staff maintain up to date with COVID vaccination and boosters.
  • Site-based staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must submit to any COVID testing or other health screenings as required by the Department of Human Services and/or the School District of Philadelphia.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Access to reliable transportation required
