Position Overview:

The Program Aide is responsible for acting as the backup bus monitor and providing support in assigned buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Program Aide assures that all children are on the bus, remain seated, and are always buckled into their safety restraints
  • The Program Aide keeps an attendance list of children on the bus and checks them off as they disembark
  • Helps children off the bus at school and at home
  • The Program Aide assures that children get off at the right bus stop and that they are met by an approved person for release as designated on blue card
  • Assists children in crossing street where needed
  • Assists the driver in assuring that all children have left the bus at the end of the route
  • Reports problems on bus to supervisor
  • The Program Aide keeps the Program cell phone on your person and turned on in case of an emergency during bus routes
  • Assists with lunch pick-up and delivery when needed
  • Report to assigned building and take direction from building specialists
  • Provides support administration/program duties
  • Answers phones
  • Greets parents/visitors to the program.
  • The Program Aide makes photocopies
  • Prepares bulletin boards
  • Organizes storage areas
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with other adults and with children
  • Willingness to attend training and learn new ways to work with and guide young children
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, within the community and with agency staff members
  • Fulfillment of all specified health and safety clearance requirements (Physical, Mantoux, MMR)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be available to work split shifts

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, bend, sit on floor, and climb stairs
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds to lift children and/or work-related equipment

Compensation:

A salary within the range of $15.00 to $22.41 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy.
