Position Title: Home Health Aide
Overview: The Home Health Aide assists the resident with their activities of daily living and performs non-medical duties.
Availability Needed: 8am-8pm or 8pm-8am
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assists resident with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising.
  • Reports and records observations of treatments, tests, procedures and collects specimens when indicated.
  • Observes and reports any unusual incidents, physical and mental changes.
  • Transfers, transports and escorts residents as needed.
  • Provides light housekeeping tasks including linen changes and laundry.
  • Utilizes proper equipment such as gait belt and back brace for transfers and use of mechanical lift.
  • Prepares and serves meals as directed as well as ensures that dishes are washed and put away, and kitchen is clean after each meal.
  • Places orders and picks up meals from the Dining Room.
  • Provides medication reminders.
  • Checks blood pressure and pulse, if applicable.
  • Provides skin care, non-diabetic nail care and minor non-sterile dressing care.
  • Provides catheter and/or colostomy care.
  • Assists with the application of compression hose, braces or prosthetics.
  • Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation.
  • Acts a mandated abuse reporter.
  • Responds proactively and uses the Emergency Call System in accordance with Community policy.
