Health Instructional Aide (Delegated Health Care Aide)

Position Overview

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking compassionate and dedicated Health Instructional Aides (Delegated Health Care Aides) to provide individualized health-related and educational support to students in a school setting for the 2026-2027 school year.

In this role, the Health Instructional Aide will support students who require assistance with health-related needs during the school day under the direction and delegation of the District Nurse and in accordance with district policies and procedures. The aide may provide one-on-one support to a designated student or assist multiple students with health needs while promoting safety, independence, and successful participation in educational activities.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, supporting student well-being, and making a meaningful impact within the school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group health support to students throughout the school day
  • Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, toileting, grooming, mobility, and personal hygiene as needed
  • Carry out delegated health care procedures under the supervision and direction of the credentialed school nurse
  • Monitor students for changes in health status and promptly report concerns to appropriate school personnel
  • Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and Individualized Health Plans (IHPs)
  • Assist students during classroom instruction, transitions, recess, lunch, transportation, and other school activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to delegated health services and student support activities
  • Follow established health, safety, infection control, and emergency procedures
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, nurses, and families to promote student success
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student independence and participation
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of district-required delegated health care training or willingness to complete training upon hire
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and implement delegated health procedures accurately
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws and district policies
  • Current TB Clearance (Questionnaire, PPD, or Chest X-Ray, if applicable)
  • Current Health Certificate (per district or state requirements)
  • Ability to lift, transfer, position, and assist students as required by assignment
  • Must meet all district, state, and federal employment requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Health Aide, Instructional Aide, Paraprofessional, CNA, Medical Assistant, or related role
  • Experience supporting students with medical, developmental, behavioral, or physical disabilities
  • Familiarity with IEPs, 504 Plans, and school-based health services
  • Experience performing delegated health care tasks under nurse supervision
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while following guidance from school nursing and educational staff
  • Experience supporting students with chronic health conditions, mobility needs, feeding support, seizure disorders, diabetes, or other specialized health needs
