Universities and colleges seek qualified faculty with advanced degrees, research experience, and strong teaching skills, especially in areas like financial analysis, risk management, and investment strategies.

Do you need a PhD to be a professor in finance?

Yes, most university finance professors are required to hold a PhD in finance or a related field, as it demonstrates expertise and qualifies them for research and teaching roles. Some institutions may consider candidates with a master's degree and extensive industry experience, but a PhD is generally standard for tenure-track positions in academia.
