Professor Food Science Jobs in Kansas (NOW HIRING)

The School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is looking to hire two 9-month faculty members at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) to join their Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program. We welcome candidates with expertise in any area of speech-language pathology, although candidates with a background in dysphagia, adult neurogenic communication disorders, and/or neuroanatomy are especially encouraged to apply, as these areas align with current curriculum priorities. Successful candidates will join a program with an active interprofessional education initiative, an on-campus speech and hearing clinic, strong connections to the local healthcare and education communities, and a school-level commitment to translational and community-engaged scholarship.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Establish and maintain an active, externally funded program of research, with dissemination through peer-reviewed outlets
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses aligned with area/s of expertise and program need
• Advise graduate students
• Provide service to the program, school, college, and university
• Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship opportunities within the school

The selected candidates will be expected to maintain a 2:2 teaching load across the academic year, equivalent to 0.4 FTE, with allocation of remaining tenths related to research and service being negotiable.

These 9-month positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor have a preferred starting date of August 2027, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Spring or summer 2027 start dates may be possible upon request.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program has been a nationally recognized presence at Kansas State University for more than 50 years and is consistently ranked in the top 25% of CSD programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report. Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in communication sciences and disorders or closely related field (ABD considered with an anticipated completion date within one year of hire)
• Earned Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP)
• Eligibility for Kansas licensure as a speech‑language pathologist
• Demonstrated or emerging record of scholarly activity, including peer‑reviewed publications and/or external funding commensurate with career stage
• Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills suitable for graduate student mentorship, didactic teaching, and interprofessional collaboration
• To be considered for the rank of associate professor:
  • Established, sustained research program with documented record of peer‑reviewed publications commensurate with rank
  • Evidence of securing or competing for extramural funding from relevant agencies

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Specialization in dysphagia, adult neurogenic communication disorders, motor speech, and/or neuroanatomy
• Clinical supervision experience with graduate student clinicians in university or medical settings
• Engagement with a variety of clinical populations and culturally responsive, person‑centered care
• Record of, or clear interest in, collaborative and/or interdisciplinary research
• Experience with, or interest in, pursuing external funding from federal agencies (i.e., NIH, NSF, HRSA, IES)
