Job Description

As a Security Officer Unarmed Patrol Watcher in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, support residents and staff, and help to deter security-related incidents through a visible presence. This role calls for strong communication, professionalism, and a people-first mindset. Pay Rate: $18.87 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting concerns to site leadership when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity and helping to deter unauthorized access.
  • Monitor access to the location by verifying visitors, observing entry and exit activity, and following site protocols for deliveries, guests, and/or vendors.
  • Support a respectful environment within the shelter setting by addressing rule-related concerns, providing directions, and communicating professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
