Job description

About North Point Trust CompanyNorth Point Trust Company provides administrative trust services to clients who have established South Dakota trusts. We're a tight-knit organization of 15 employees, including a four-person trust operations team, which means the work here is varied, the environment is collaborative, and every team member's contribution is visible. Our culture is built on being go-getters: people who take initiative, pitch in where needed, and hold themselves accountable without a lot of oversight.Position SummaryNorth Point Trust Company is looking for a Trust Officer to provide administrative trust services to clients who have created South Dakota trusts. Trust administration is a specialized niche, and we invest in training motivated, detail-oriented people who are eager to learn it.What You'll DoTrust Account Administration• Review and interpret trust documents; prepare trust summaries and maintain permanent trust files.• Prepare annual trust reviews to confirm compliance with trust documents, proper fee allocation, and proper documentation.Financial & Accounting Operations• Book trust transactions in the Maui trust accounting software.• Prepare financial statements for trusts and create/maintain note amortization schedules.• Prepare invoices and bill clients for trustee fees.Tax & Regulatory Compliance• Coordinate the review of 1099s, 1041s, and other relevant tax reporting, working with clients' accountants to ensure timely filings and tax payments.• Assist with preparation of annual financial statement audits and South Dakota Division of Banking audits.Relationship Management• Communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys, accountants, and other professionals in handling trust matters. What We're Looking ForEducationBachelor's degree required. A degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred, but we welcome candidates from any field of study who bring strong analytical and organizational skills.Experience & Skills• Trust industry experience is a plus, but not required - we're glad to train the right person.• Strong computer skills.• General working knowledge of accounting principles.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Strong organizational skills; highly motivated and comfortable working independently.Key Competencies• Ownership & Accountability - thrives in an honor-system culture that trusts you to manage your own work.• Collaboration - works well within a small, close-knit team and is quick to assist where needed.• Initiative - a genuine go-getter who looks for ways to add value, not just complete tasks.• Attention to Detail - brings absolute precision and accuracy to all aspects of work.• Trainability - comfortable learning a specialized industry and picking up new systems and processes.Schedule, Compensation & Benefits• In-office 4 days per week, with 1 day remote.• Salary range of $61,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.• Monthly benefit stipend, which employees may apply toward optional medical and dental plan enrollment.Equal Employment OpportunityNorth Point Trust Company is an equal opportunity employer.
