JOB TITLE: Softball - Middle School Head Coach
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
STATUS: Seasonal; Stipend
HOURS: Temporary
LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale

Purpose Statement:
The Softball Coach is responsible for glorifying God mentoring, training, and disciplining student-athletes with integrity and excellence.
Scope:
The Softball coach cultivates relationships with all stakeholders to create the healthiest environment possible for the development and discipleship of student-athletes.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with:
  • Student-athletes and their families
  • Opposing school Softball programs and their coaches.
  • Create, execute and effectively communicate practice plans.
  • Cultivate a positive Christian culture in the Softball program.
  • Create a team schedule with other schools.
  • Disciple young men and women, demonstrate a commitment to excellence, and display character at all times
  • Execute a coaching plan
  • Attend Coaches meetings
  • Be accountable for personal growth as well as church, outreach, and family
  • Continuing education and mastery of the sport (i.e. running strategies)
  • Assist with field/weight room/locker room set up and break down
  • Counseling resource for the players

Qualifications/Skills/Gifts:
  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • A strong commitment to the philosophies and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good working relationship with children, parents, and staff
  • Able to control emotions; slow to anger
  • Able to remain calm and organized during busy schedules
  • Spiritually mature
  • Able to counsel, comfort, and offer support to students
  • Able to maintain order and structure in a large group of children
  • Gifts of leadership, organization, and service
  • Willingness to submit to authority
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Genuine love for our student-athletes and each other
  • 2 years minimum experience as a Softball coach and/or college or professional playing experience preferred
  • Verifiable history of mentoring and spiritual investment in former and/or current players
  • Impeccable reputation in the sports community at all levels (youth, high school, college, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

Work Schedule:
Weekdays: In-Season 5 afternoons per week
Sundays: OFF
*On occasion, there is a need to attend to duties outside of the normal working hours. Those circumstances will be communicated in advance and will be compensated accordingly or flex time permitted.
