Purpose
The purpose of the Performance Training Coach (PTC) position is to enhance the overall wellness of Upper School and Middle School students.
Essential Job Functions
CLASSROOM
Plans curriculum, teaches and works with students individually, and in small and group settings
Instructs proper fundamentals and techniques in areas relating to coachs specific area of expertise (e.g. rowing coaches will teach and instruct students on the erg machines; baseball coaches will teach and instruct students on hand-eye coordination techniques; track & field/cross country coaches will implement a cardiovascular conditioning regimen for students to complete during the class period; etc.)
Incorporates and teaches character-building skills in curriculum
Creates a positive and encouraging environment for learning
Places emphasis on personal success, fair play and personal health
Communicates material to students in a clear manner, responds to student questions, provides opportunities for students to implement and test the skill sets they learn to ensure an optimum learning experience
Takes attendance, assumes responsibility of scoring / reporting on students progress and follows the curriculum
Collaborates with Physical Education (PE) teachers and Athletic Director to ensure teaching objectives are met; PTCs are primarily in charge of Middle School PE
Provides supervision regarding student conduct and interactions; communicates concerning behavior to Athletic Director and addresses as needed
Utilizes free periods to plan curriculum, develop performance training workouts, plan practices and games, inventory equipment, handle parent phone calls and conducts player meetings
Provides supervision of students during arrival and dismissal times
Addresses issues such as bullying, property damage, littering or any type of behavior that is out of character and does not align with School expectations
Works with Academic Division Heads on the enforcement of school
Responds appropriately in the event of an emergency, ensuring that students are safe and following safety guidelines
Maintains all child care standards as required by law, and works with the Administration to ensure compliance with all regional, state, and federal regulations as these laws apply to the school
Adheres to all guidelines in divisional and school-wide handbooks
Serves as a role model to all students and to members of the Pine Crest Community
Attends all regularly scheduled faculty meetings and teacher professional days
Utilizes the remainder of the days class periods to support student supervision needs in the Middle School and Upper School as directed by the Head Performance Training Coach, not to exceed 40% of the workday
COACHING
Coaches across multiple sports, preferably at the Middle School level
Attends practices / games and occasional weekend athletic events
Accompanies and supervises team on all away events; serves as primary chaperone, in loco parentis capacity
Drives bus as needed
Ensures adherence to the rules and regulations of the FHSAA
Essential Performance Characteristics
Supports the Schools mission statement and the philosophy of the department
Makes effective use of technology, as applicable to the position

Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Adheres to dress code in a professional manner
Keeps supervisor advised of all developments; consults with supervisor when conflicts or disagreements arise and performs in a professional, supportive manner that leads to greater productivity within the department and organization

Maintains a consistent high level of performance, including accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Maintains a regular, dependable attendance (be at work regularly, on time, with occasional absences that are reasonably predictable)
Maintains a high regard for personal safety and for the safety of school students, employees and assets
Demonstrates dependability and responsibility
Adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Faculty and Staff Employee Handbook
Employee may be required to work on either campus at such time(s) and with such frequency as may be deemed appropriate in the Schools discretion.
Accepts and completes other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Department Supervisor, as well as from the Department Supervisors appointed designee

Bachelors degree
Masters degree preferred
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum 3 years coaching or playing (High School level or above); classroom
experience preferred
Knowledgeable of current performance training pedagogy
Knowledgeable in the use of current performance training technology (e.g.
TeamBuilder)
Certifications
and/or Licenses
CDL License preferred; required to obtain after hire
CPR certified preferred; required to obtain after hire
Certification/license related to primary sport preferred (e.g. Soccer: A-E license)
