About the Job
 

This position is in a laboratory involved in understanding neuronal circuits in health and disease, with a focus on epilepsy and memory using electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and mouse models.  
90% of this position is dedicated writing and experimentation. The exact effort split between these components will vary depending on grant success. Initially, the position will lean heavier on writing and later it will lean heavier on experimentation. 
A 45 % Grant and manuscript preparation (18 hours/week)
A primary role of this position will be to prepare grants and manuscripts. This will require independent writing, literature searches, and analysis of existing data to construct grant/manuscript ready figures. 
B 45 % In vivo experiments (18 hours/week)
The candidate will perform surgeries, perform acquisition and analysis of electrophysiology experiments, and design and troubleshoot behavioral rigs. The candidate will be expected to work with undergraduate and graduate students in the lab and provide mentorship.
C 10% Lab management support (4 hours /week)
The candidate will manage colonies for the lab and supervise student hourlies.

Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications: PhD in Neuroscience or related field (or expected by start date) with one or more years of research training.  Experience with neurophysiology, including in vivo rodent experiments or strong other experience paired with a strong desire and ability to learn new techniques. Experience with analysis of in vivo data sets, proficiency in Matlab, and statistical analysis. Experience with grant and research manuscript writing, including several first author publications.

Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Range: $83,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience 

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
