Overview

The Research Associate will provide critical support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Senior Project Manager across multiple Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) projects focused on community trust building.

This role requires strong community engagement and organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to manage complex tasks in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include engaging community and faith-based leaders to support participant recruitment, data management, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and oversight of research platforms such as SurveyMonkey, Dedoose, and REDCap. The Research Associate will ensure seamless project operations, maintain effective communication with participants, build strong community partnership with CBO leaders, and contribute to program sustainability. The role will also support manuscript writing, poster preparation and presentations, and grant writing and may help facilitate community conversation circles, focus groups, and codesign sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research activities, including participant recruitment, screening, and consent management in compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Manage data collection and analysis using SurveyMonkey, Dedoose, and REDCap.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and grant proposals; develop presentations and reports for funding agencies.
  • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to survey question development and build surveys in survey monkey and redcap.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and source materials.  
  • Facilitate community conversations and codesign sessions.
  • Support administrative tasks and resolve issues proactively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Professional interpersonal skills for engaging diverse individuals and teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MPH preferred; postdoctoral candidates encouraged to apply.
  • 3+ years of experience in research coordination.
  • 2-5+ years of community engagement experience.  
  • In-depth knowledge of IRB processes.
