SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer position directs a wide variety of manufacturing engineering activities to develop and improve standards for industrial processes, materials and products to ensure all customer requirements are met in a cost-efficient manner by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   Safety - Eliminate hazards through sound engineering practices
   Using current design standards and processes, developing component part drawings from form, fit and function assembly drawings. Applies knowledge of composition and machinability of ferrous and non-ferrous materials with knowledge of machines, tooling and capabilities to develop standardized processes.
   Create and editing of routings against both internal and external customer prints, to agreed standard work and best practices
   Modify customer prints to enable use on the shop floor (e.g. Metric to imperial units, removing non-r d views/sections, etc.)
   Performs cost estimating functions as needed on new or pending orders.  Submit quotes to Sales personnel including;material identification, obtaining material quotes from purchasing and the completion of cost estimate spread sheets
   In conjunction with the Production Manager and shop personnel, responsible for cell level Continuous Improvement Initiatives to continuously improve and standardize current processes.  Develop and implement improved processes and incorporates into designs. 
   Investigates and troubleshoots process problems as they occur and takes necessary corrective actions. Confers with Design Engineering to assure designs fit the best manufacturing processes. Request engineering changes to reduce costs, improve quality or decrease manufacturing times. Coordinates implementation of approved changes.
   Operate computer aided design equipment to design and develop tooling and fixtures.
   Advise Production manager of engineering problems or concerns. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering Manager to assure compliance with company standards. Confer with other manufacturing engineers to share knowledge and corrective actions to enhance/improve overall company quality and profitability.
   Capital machinery investment justification.
   Liaise with tool crib and/or CNC Programmer regarding required tooling, identify needs and submit requisitions for approval
   Quality; Implement standard setup processes, eliminate need for special tooling, utilize existing machine technology where feasible, conduct pre-launch review of all new jobs. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
   Associate's degree in engineering or related field
   Minimum of 5-7 years' machining experience in manufacturing engineering functions to include processes and process improvement.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determinations of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
