Apex is hiring a Construction Safety Professional. Travel up to 75% and preferred base within the East Coast(United States).

Role Overview:

  • This role will assist an Apex client with occupational safety & health. The incumbent will be involved in preventing workplace injury and risk by completing checklist-based health and safety audits of building plans, buildings under construction and retrofitted buildings. The audits are to ensure that buildings have been constructed in accordance with the building codes as well as safety design standards set forth by the client's internal engineering team.
  • The role will routinely involve a blend of on-site health and safety auditing and remote desktop work. The site visits routinely require a great deal of walking at multi acre construction sites with uneven ground.
  • The incumbent will interface with client stakeholders, construction teams, developers, engineers, and building occupants to ensure the client gets a safe operational facility. Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self- starter with the ability to work independently and produce results within budget and timeframe.
  • Your Responsibilities as an Apex Occupational Safety Professional:
  • Providing health and safety compliance auditing to the client
    • Learn the client's audit criteria, requirements, methods and culture.
    • Complete desktop work to include: reviewing site plans, completing client-designed checklists, attending team meetings as requested, and completing detailed timesheets and expense reports.
    • Conduct site observations focused on identifying and assessing compliance with client-developed design requirements.
    • Demonstrate professional behaviors in service to the client and their stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with Apex project managers, coordinates and executes safety projects within set organizational procedures and standards.
    In close routine collaboration with the customer, designs, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan. Works with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity.
  • Provides input to project managers, client relationship managers, or business development staff on status of the project.
  • What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred – ideally, in a safety or engineering field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required in a safety or engineering related field.
  • Experience in warehouse business settings a plus.
  • Possess a solid knowledge of occupational safety technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings. Highly familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety field. Just a few

  • Rely on experience and judgment paired with the overall work statement provided by the customer to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ensures compliance with all EHS regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact on the organization
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices
  • Experience with data management and report preparation. Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Up to 75% travel, mostly within the region, with occasional cross-country travel as needed
