United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring an Associate, Development to join our team. As an Associate Development, you will collaborate closely with the fundraising team to create and implement an annual donor relations plan for their portfolio, ensuring that our engagement with donors is meaningful and impactful, ensuring positive and high-quality interactions with existing donors as well as providing support in the cultivation of prospects, thereby helping increase the number of donors. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and possess strong communication skills, with excellent follow-up and interpersonal skills; will be able to multitask and have a strong team mentality.ย

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a limited Account Portfolio to include goal setting, donor stewardship and cultivation, and individual solicitations.ย 
  • Responsible for meeting an established fundraising goal within existing portfolio and through new business opportunities, which may include, but are not limited to, new corporate donors, individual donors, donor increases, new sponsorships, and new foundation or grant opportunities. New opportunities will be addressed with the support of team members in these respective areas.

Donor Management:

  • Oversee donor relations efforts, building and maintaining relationships with the United Way's donors.ย 
  • Utilize Andar software to track donor engagement and activities effectively.
  • Respond promptly to donor inquiries via phone and email
  • Provide support for sponsorships, including but not limited to guest list management and communication related to special events

Data Management:

  • Strategically implement reports into the fundraising approach, utilize United Way's customer relationship management tool, Andar, and maintain data quality and integrity.
  • Pull reports as needed and analyze data for accuracy. When necessary, work with internal teams to correct inaccuracies and update reports to fit current business needs.ย 

Administrative Support:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support related to donor relations, including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and conducting research as needed.
  • Initiate and execute essential donor relations functions including, but not limited to, acknowledgement letters and packages, engagement communications, and donor follow-up and renewal communications.


Additional Duties:

  • Occasionally represent United Way Miami at internal and external events for purposes of donor cultivation and prospecting
  • Remain aware and attentive to new business opportunities through interactions with new and existing donors
  • Originates new concepts, ideas, and approaches to a more effective and efficient way of working.ย 

Requirements

Education Requirements: ย Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or donor relations.


Experience Requirements: Two to three years of nonprofit donor relations/fundraising experience.


Technology Requirements: ย Experience with donor management software (e.g., Andar) is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant tools including modern web browser.ย 


Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: ย Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. ย 


Contacts: ย Internal. Communicate with all levels of the organization to exchange information, collect information, solve problems, negotiate solutions, and cultivate relationships.

External. Communicate with volunteers, donors/contributors, general public, vendors, and United Way agencies to exchange information, collect information, solve problems, negotiate solutions and cultivate relationships.
