We are seeking an experienced Professional Cabinet Finisher who takes pride in producing flawless, furniture-quality finishes on premium custom cabinetry and architectural millwork.
This is not a production-line painting position. We are looking for a craftsman who understands wood, coatings, color, sheen, and quality, and who wants to be part of a team building exceptional custom cabinetry.
Position SummaryThe Cabinet Finisher is responsible for preparing, priming, sanding, staining, spraying, inspecting, and repairing premium custom cabinetry and millwork using professional finishing systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining Rojahn's reputation for craftsmanship and quality.
The ideal candidate has experience with high-end residential cabinetry and understands that consistency, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship are essential.
Primary ResponsibilitiesSurface Preparation
  •  Inspect cabinet components before finishing 
  •  Sand hardwoods, MDF, veneers, and composite materials 
  •  Raise grain when required 
  •  Repair minor imperfections 
  •  Fill nail holes and defects 
  •  Prepare surfaces for stain or paint 
  •  Mask components when necessary 
Spray Finishing
Apply premium finishes including:
  •  Conversion Varnish 
  •  2K Polyurethane 
  •  Waterborne Coatings 
  •  Pigmented Paint Systems 
  •  Clear Topcoats 
  •  Stains 
  •  Sealers 
  •  Catalyzed Primers 
Equipment Operation
Safely operate and maintain:
  •  Air-Assisted Airless Spray Systems 
  •  HVLP Spray Guns 
  •  Pressure Pot Systems 
  •  Kremlin Pumps 
  •  Graco Equipment 
  •  Spray Booths 
  •  Sanding Equipment 
  •  Drying Racks 
  •  Mixing Equipment 
Quality Control
Inspect every finished component for:
  •  Color consistency 
  •  Sheen consistency 
  •  Coverage 
  •  Film build 
  •  Surface smoothness 
  •  Dust contamination 
  •  Finish defects 
  •  Proper curing 
Perform touch-ups and repairs before products move to assembly.
Paint Mixing
Accurately:
  •  Mix catalysts 
  •  Follow manufacturer specifications 
  •  Measure viscosity 
  •  Maintain pot life 
  •  Record batch information 
  •  Label materials correctly 
Booth Maintenance
Maintain:
  •  Spray booth cleanliness 
  •  Filters 
  •  Hoses 
  •  Pumps 
  •  Guns 
  •  Air dryers 
  •  Regulators 
  •  Mix room organization 
Teamwork
Work closely with:
  •  Cabinet Builders 
  •  Production Manager 
  •  Designers 
  •  Quality Control 
  •  Installers 
Communicate issues before they become production problems.
Required Qualifications
  •  Minimum 3 years of cabinet finishing experience
  •  Experience spraying premium cabinet coatings 
  •  Excellent sanding and preparation skills 
  •  Strong understanding of wood species 
  •  Ability to identify finish defects 
  •  Strong attention to detail 
  •  Ability to maintain production quality standards 
  •  Dependable attendance
