How do Professional Advisors typically collaborate with clients and other specialists to provide comprehensive guidance?

Professional Advisors often work closely with clients to understand their unique needs and objectives, whether in finance, education, or career development. Collaboration with other specialists—such as accountants, lawyers, or subject-matter experts—is common to ensure clients receive well-rounded advice. Regular meetings, both one-on-one and in team settings, are typical, and Advisors must be skilled at translating complex information into actionable plans. This collaborative approach not only enhances the quality of service but also helps Advisors build a strong professional network.

What are professional advisors?

Professional advisors are experts who provide guidance, support, and recommendations in specific fields such as finance, education, law, or business. They use their specialized knowledge to help individuals or organizations make informed decisions, solve problems, and achieve goals. Their role often involves analyzing situations, developing strategies, and ensuring clients understand their options and obligations.

What qualifications do you need to be an advisor?

To become a professional advisor, candidates typically need a relevant bachelor's degree in fields such as finance, business, or counseling. Professional certifications like CFP, CFA, or other industry-specific licenses can enhance credibility and job prospects, along with strong communication and analytical skills. Experience in the related field is often required or preferred by employers.

What jobs make $1,000,000 a year?

For a Professional Advisor, earning $1,000,000 annually is uncommon and typically involves high-level roles such as top financial or management consultants, senior executives, or successful entrepreneurs. These positions often require extensive experience, advanced certifications, and a strong network, with income derived from salaries, bonuses, or profit sharing. Most professionals in advisory roles do not reach this income level without significant business success or ownership stakes.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A professional advisor, such as a financial or business consultant, can earn $10,000 or more per month through expertise, client base, and experience. Success in this role often depends on strong communication skills, industry knowledge, and building a solid reputation, with some professionals working independently or within firms to achieve high income levels.

The main difference between a Professional Advisor and a Financial Advisor lies in their industry focus and credentials. Professional Advisors often have industry-specific certifications and work across various sectors, while Financial Advisors specialize in financial planning and investment management. Both roles require relevant licenses and serve clients by providing expert advice, but their scope and industry context differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Professional Advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Professional Advisor, you need expertise in your advisory field, strong analytical abilities, and relevant educational credentials—often a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related discipline. Familiarity with industry-specific software (such as CRM systems), data analysis tools, and, in some cases, professional certifications like CFP or CFA is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to build trust help advisors connect with clients and tailor effective solutions. These competencies ensure advisors provide credible, personalized guidance that effectively addresses client needs and fosters long-term relationships.

Job description

Associate Financial Advisor (AFA)

Soundview Financial Group
A Private Wealth Advisory Practice of Ameriprise Financial
Edmonds and/or Wenatchee, Washington

Are you a relationship-driven financial professional seeking a long-term advisory opportunity within a collaborative ensemble practice — without the requirement of bringing an existing book of business?

Soundview Financial Group, a Private Wealth Advisory Practice of Ameriprise Financial, is seeking an Associate Financial Advisor (AFA) to support succession planning efforts for retiring advisors while contributing to the continued growth and continuity of the practice.

This role is intentionally structured to provide increasing responsibility for client relationships over time, particularly supporting lower-decile households, while positioning the advisor for long-term growth within the firm.

About the Practice

We are an ensemble wealth management practice committed to comprehensive financial planning, strong client relationships, and continuity of service across generations. Our focus is long-term stability — for both clients and team members.

We serve a loyal client base, including urban and rural households who value in-person engagement, trust, and consistent advisory relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Transition & Continuity

  • Support succession planning for retiring advisors
  • Gradually assume responsibility for designated client households
  • Maintain high-touch service standards to ensure client retention and satisfaction

Financial Planning & Implementation

  • Deliver comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies
  • Conduct client meetings and provide ongoing portfolio guidance
  • Translate complex financial concepts into practical, client-friendly solutions

Practice Growth & Development

  • Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships
  • Contribute to revenue growth within the team structure
  • Support the long-term expansion and sustainability of the practice

Team Collaboration

  • Partner closely with senior advisors and operational staff
  • Maintain documentation, compliance standards, and CRM accuracy

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Active securities and insurance licenses (Series 7 & 66, WA state insurance)
  • Experience in financial services or wealth management
  • Willingness to maintain in-office presence in Edmonds or Wenatchee due to client needs

Preferred

  • Experience working with rural client communities
  • Ameriprise experience

Professional Strengths

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable serving clients in person and building long-term trust
  • Organized, proactive, and growth-oriented
  • Collaborative mindset within an ensemble practice model

Career Mindset

  • Seeking a long-term advisory role within a team practice and interested in future equity paths
  • Motivated by continuity, client stewardship, and sustainable growth
  • Interested in future leadership and expanded responsibility

Work Environment

  • Potential placement in Edmonds and/or Wenatchee
  • In-office presence required in either location
  • Team-oriented ensemble practice with locations in multiple states
  • Long-term succession planning opportunities

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 - exempt
Incentive Compensation: 10% - 20% based on production and responsibilities
Benefits Include:

  • Health Insurance (100% employer paid for employee); optional vision and dental (employee paid)
  • Safe harbor 401(k) plan with 6% match
  • Group life insurance
  • Paid Time Off – vacation policy, sick leave, holidays
  • Paid CE and professional designation education

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Work Environment: In-office presence required; flexibility may be discussed based on location

How to Apply

If you are a licensed financial professional seeking a long-term advisory opportunity with succession visibility and growth potential, please submit your résumé and cover letter outlining your experience and interest.
