Productions Director information

What does a productions director do?

A Productions Director oversees all aspects of a production, such as film, television, theater, or live events. They are responsible for managing the production team, ensuring projects stay within budget and on schedule, and maintaining the creative vision from start to finish. Productions Directors coordinate between different departments, solve logistical challenges, and make key decisions about resources, casting, and technical requirements. Their leadership ensures the smooth execution of the production and the delivery of a high-quality final product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a productions director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Productions Director, you need strong leadership abilities, project management expertise, and a deep understanding of production processes, often supported by a relevant degree and substantial industry experience. A common challenge is ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals across these diverse groups, especially when timelines are tight. Successfully balancing creative vision with logistical constraints requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Productions Directors must also be adept at quickly resolving conflicts and adapting plans to address unexpected issues that arise during production.

About the Role
We are looking for a Director, Product Management to own strategy for our Nutrition product line and
lead the team responsible for delivering it. You will set direction for Nutrition, partner at a peer level
with engineering directors and GTM leaders, and develop your direct reports into strong product leaders
and owners. You are accountable for how Nutrition connects to the broader portfolio, how it performs,
and how the team operates at scale. This role reports to the VP of Product.
What You'll Be Doing
โ€ข Own Nutrition product strategy, ensuring decisions ladder up to company direction.
โ€ข Shape strategy across product boundaries - understand how decisions in Nutrition create
dependencies or opportunities elsewhere in the portfolio and coordinate accordingly.
โ€ข Anticipate market shifts and competitive moves; adjust direction proactively.
โ€ข Connect product strategy to business outcomes - revenue, retention, and market position.
โ€ข Build executive-ready business cases for Nutrition investments; partner with finance on planning
and forecasting.
โ€ข Coordinate execution across Nutrition and adjacent product areas with interdependencies;
resolve cross-area conflicts in priority and resourcing.
โ€ข Anticipate and mitigate delivery risks before they impact outcomes.
โ€ข Own P&L or business performance metrics for Nutrition.
โ€ข Partner with engineering leadership on platform investments, technical debt strategy, and data
strategy for Nutrition.
โ€ข Partner at a peer level with engineering directors, sales leadership, and customer success - co-
owning outcomes.
โ€ข Represent Nutrition clearly to executive leadership, with well-framed tradeoffs and investment
rationale.
โ€ข Engage directly with food service directors and other customer stakeholders to understand their
operational challenges; represent LINQ externally in the K-12 nutrition and food service space,
including at industry conferences.
โ€ข Lead and develop your direct reports through regular 1:1s, structured feedback, individual
development planning, and clear performance expectations.
โ€ข Build and retain a high-performing product team within Nutrition.
โ€ข Identify high-potential talent and create conditions for accelerated growth.
โ€ข Resolve complex performance situations in partnership with HR.
What We're Looking For
โ€ข 7 or more years in product management, with at least 2-3 years managing a team with direct
reports.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience owning a multi-product portfolio or product line, including products
at different lifecycle stages.
โ€ข Track record of driving cross-functional alignment at a peer level with engineering, sales, and
customer success.
โ€ข Experience building investment business cases and communicating product strategy to
executive leadership.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to develop direct reports into strong performers.
โ€ข Experience in K-12 nutrition, school food service, or public sector SaaS preferred; background in
quick-serve restaurant or hospitality technology (e.g., Toast, OpenTable) is a strong plus.
โ€ข Strong customer sensibility, with the credibility to hold substantive conversations with food
service directors and other operational stakeholders; comfortable representing LINQ publicly,
including speaking at industry conferences.
Education
Bachelor's degree in any field, or equivalent practical experience.
Travel Requirements
Up to 25%, including industry conferences and customer visits
