OVERVIEW:

Ram Machine Products, LLC. (RMP) is an American manufacturer that exists to deliver cost effective, quality products that meet or exceed the schedule demands of its customers. RMP specializes in the design, production, and supply of “Access Plugs” or “Shoulder Plugs” for Air Cooled Heat Exchangers. These plugs are critical construction and repair components of heat transfer equipment found in refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, power plants, and other industrial processing and commercial facilities throughout the world.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the screw machine production department while leading and developing a team of machine operators and setup personnel. This role ensures production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and productivity goals are consistently achieved.

The Production Supervisor provides technical support for the setup and operation of Wickman and ACME multi-spindle screw machines, coordinates production activities, resolves manufacturing issues, and works closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Management to maximize machine utilization and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires both supervisory experience and knowledge of multi-spindle screw machine operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the daily activities of production personnel, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive operations.
  • Approve time cards and manage time off for all direct reports.
  • Manage performance and performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Coordinate and assign work to operators and setup personnel based on production priorities, workload, and employee capabilities.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards and minimizing downtime.
  • Assist with the setup, changeover, adjustment, and operation of ACME and Wickman multi-spindle screw machines as needed to support production.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to operators during production.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate with maintenance personnel to address equipment issues and minimize production interruptions.
  • Verify setups, first-piece inspections, and in-process quality checks to ensure products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and manufacturing documentation to ensure proper production methods are followed.
  • Collaborate daily with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
  • Monitor production performance, machine utilization, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Conduct regular production meetings and communicate daily priorities, safety topics, and operational updates with the team.
  • Train, mentor, and develop operators on proper machine operation, setup techniques, quality standards, safety practices, and company procedures.
  • Assist with employee performance management by providing coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, machine reliability, and workflow optimization.
  • Maintain accurate production records, downtime reports, quality documentation, and shift communications.
  • Ensure all work meets required specifications and produces high-quality results in accordance with engineering drawings and customer requirements.
  • Know and follow all company policies applicable to the position while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance.
  • Execute various tasks assigned by management, whether within standard responsibilities or in support of other operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.


Work Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience setting up and operating ACME or Wickman multi-spindle screw machines.
  • 2–5 years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience coordinating production activities and leading manufacturing teams is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and hold employees accountable for performance and safety.
  • Extensive knowledge of ACME and Wickman multi-spindle screw machine setup and operation.

  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and thread gauges.
  • Understanding of metals, alloys, machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and production processes.
  • Working knowledge of cams, gears, center height adjustments, thread roll heads, and machine setup principles.
  • Ability to calculate feeds, speeds, RPMs, and understand their impact on machining performance.
  • Ability to sharpen and maintain tooling including cut-off blades and other production tooling.
  • Experience performing first article inspections and routine quality checks.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic and geometry calculations.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Continuous standing and/or walking throughout the workday.
  • Moderate physical effort, including frequently lifting materials weighing 10–50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity.
  • Ability to work in a hot, dusty, and noisy manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work required overtime based on production demands.
