What are some common challenges faced by Production Trimmers, and how can they be managed on the job?

Production Trimmers often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent speed and precision while trimming products to meet quality standards. Managing fatigue from repetitive tasks and standing for long periods can also be demanding. To address these, it's important to follow ergonomic best practices, take regular short breaks, and communicate with team leads about workflow improvements. Effective teamwork and clear communication with other production staff help ensure that trimming aligns with overall manufacturing schedules and quality requirements.

What is the difference between Production Trimmer vs Fabric Cutter?

To thrive as a Production Trimmer, you need strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of safety protocols, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with trimming tools, machinery, and sometimes computerized tracking systems is typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions precisely are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What are Production Trimmers?

Production Trimmers are workers responsible for cutting, shaping, or trimming materials and products during the manufacturing process. They often use hand tools, power tools, or machinery to remove excess material or finish products to meet quality standards. Production Trimmers work in a variety of industries, including food processing, manufacturing, and textiles. Their role is crucial in ensuring that products are uniform, safe, and ready for packaging or further assembly.

Job description

Breakwater Treatment & Wellness is New Jersey's most trusted source for medical cannabis. We grow, produce, and dispense the highest quality cannabis and cannabis products in the New Jersey Medical Marijuana Program. Our motto "A Safe Harbor" reflects our goal to protect our patients by providing them with consistent, high quality products in a welcoming environment.

Hand trimming is a cornerstone of Breakwater quality. Hand trimming not only creates a beautiful product, but it helps maintain more of our medicine's effects. As we continue to grow, we need reliable, consistent team members in our Trim Department who can trim our Premium Bud with beauty, accuracy, and speed. If you have good hand-eye coordination, strong attention to detail, can stay focused and self-driven over long periods of time, and are interested in a career in cannabis, the Trimmer position might be a good fit for you.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Trimming Breakwater Premium Bud to company expectations and standards

  • Learning the difference and nuances of each strain Breakwater grows and trimming that strain to the standards for that strain
  • Maintaining a clean work station and assisting in nightly Trim Room cleaning activities
  • Reporting to work reliably and consistently with a positive attitude

  • As you become more established within the Trim Department, collecting and weighing trimmed buds and excess trim material

  • Assisting the Trim team with other tasks as required
  • Taking direction from supervisors
