SOLDERING TECHNICIAN
Position Type: Temp to Hire
Position Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday
Position Salary: $14.55/hour
Position Location: Fairport Harbor, OH
The General Assembly – Soldering Technician is responsible for assembling, soldering, and testing small electronic components and devices in a production environment. This role involves working with hand tools, soldering irons, and small parts to ensure high-quality assembly and proper functionality. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of hands-on soldering experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow work instructions accurately. This full-time position reports to the Production Manager or Lead Operator.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform hand soldering of wires, connectors, and small electronic components on circuit boards or wire/cable assemblies
  • Assemble products by following detailed work instructions, diagrams, and verbal directions
  • Inspect own work and report any defects or issues to the supervisor
  • Ensure components are properly aligned and securely fastened during assembly
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workstation
  • Work with team members to meet daily production goals and timelines
  • Accurately log work completed into ERP systems
  • Assist in the training of new team members on soldering techniques and assembly processes
  • Participate in quality and process improvement efforts to enhance production efficiency and minimize rework or scrap
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 1 year of experience in soldering or electronic assembly
  • Steady hand, good eyesight, and fine motor skills required for precision work
  • Certification in soldering to IPC standards (IPC-A-610 or IPC J-STD-001) preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Ability to read and follow technical diagrams and assembly instructions
  • Experience working with hand tools, magnifiers, and other basic assembly equipment
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, repetitive tasks in a team-oriented environment
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills and experience using ERP or production tracking systems preferred
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • High school diploma or equivalent
