2nd Shift Associates Needed ASAP!

Monday - Friday

Hours: 3:30pm-12am

Shift Differential $2 more per hour


OVERVIEW: 

 The Sewer operates various industrial sewing machines in a standing position for the purpose of closing the opening through which synthetic or natural fillings are inserted into pillow ticks, comforter shells, and/or and other related products with accuracy, speed and a strong focus on quality to meet the company expectations and exceed customer expectations. 

 This position places a strong significance on effective teamwork, clear communication, sound judgment, safety orientation, achieving and maintaining production efficiency and dedication to the quality of our product.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ensure that the quality of the product meets the product specifications. 
  • Observes all Safety Rules and responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs duties of general help and job assignments as required. 

All Live Comfortably associates play a crucial role in meeting our customer requirements and are expected after initial training to perform with minimal supervision. Associates may be asked to assist with other duties and work in other departments when needed to meet those requirements. 

 SEWER DUTIES

  • Place spools of thread, cord, or other materials on spindles, insert bobbins, and thread ends through machine guides and components.
  • Perform equipment maintenance tasks such as replacing needles, cleaning sewing machines, oiling, troubleshooting.
  • Start and operate or tend industrial sewing machines to join, reinforce, or decorate material or articles.
  • Guide pillow and comforter shells or shell parts under machine needles and presser feet to sew parts together.
  • Sew tags, zippers, or other customer requested material. 
  • Verify of the product meets the product specifications by ensuring:
    • Proper number of stitches per are present 
    • No fraying or puckering.
    • Closing was completed in a straight line. 
    • Proper pick up and continuation of existing stitch. 
    • The thread tailing was cut as required.

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS   

  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Attention to detail, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. 
  • Skilled at utilizing proper sewing techniques and understanding industrial sewing machine components
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, write and follow directions
  • Ability to work repetitive jobs at a fast pace
  • Physical stamina in order to stand and handle materials for extended periods

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Manufacturing / Production Floor: While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.   The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas. 

Not all areas of the plant and warehouse are climate controlled and exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. The Associate is frequently exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods
