THE COMPANY

A well-established and highly respected architecture practice is looking for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist & Project Manager to join their Calgary team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced architectural technologist who enjoys being involved in both the technical delivery and project coordination/management of projects. You will work through multiple phases of architectural projects — from construction documents through to working drawings, detailing, consultant coordination and project delivery — while also developing your project management skills.

The firm works across a diverse portfolio of commercial, public, civic and institutional projects, providing exposure to a variety of project types and opportunities to take on increasing responsibility.

You will work closely with Principals and Senior Architects in a collaborative team environment, with strong mentorship, professional development and long-term career growth opportunities.

THE ROLE

As an Intermediate Architectural Technologist & Project Manager, you will have a hands-on role in both the technical production and coordination of architectural projects.

You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, developing detailed construction documentation while supporting and eventually taking ownership of project coordination and project management responsibilities.

Working alongside Principals, Senior Architects, consultants and clients, you will help move projects from concept through construction, ensuring that technical information, documentation, schedules and communication are well coordinated.

This is an ideal role for someone who wants to move beyond pure production and develop into a well-rounded architectural project professional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work through various phases of architectural projects, including design development, construction documentation, working drawings and project delivery
  • Produce and coordinate detailed architectural drawings, construction documents, plans, elevations, sections and details
  • Develop high-quality technical documentation using AutoCAD
  • Coordinate architectural drawings and technical information with consultants and other project team members
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, coordination and document management
  • Coordinate project information and deliverables between clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams
  • Participate in client and consultant meetings and assist with meeting minutes, action items and follow-up
  • Manage project documentation and help ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Progressively take greater responsibility for managing projects through various phases
  • Work directly with clients and consultants while being supported by Principals and Senior Architects
  • Assist with reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information for coordination and quality
  • Help resolve design and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support junior team members where appropriate
  • Maintain strong communication with project stakeholders and help ensure projects remain organized, coordinated and on track

WHAT'S REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of architectural industry experience, ideally within an architecture or multidisciplinary design firm
  • Strong experience producing construction documents, working drawings and architectural details
  • Proven ability to work through multiple phases of architectural projects
  • Architectural Technology diploma, Architecture degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Strong AutoCAD skills are required — candidates must be comfortable producing detailed architectural documentation
  • Experience with Revit is considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of architectural construction, detailing, materials and building systems
  • Strong understanding of consultant coordination and the architectural project delivery process
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Professional, proactive approach with a desire to take ownership and grow

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN

  • Competitive salary of $62,000 – $78,000+, depending on experience and skills
  • Opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial, public, civic and institutional projects
  • Exposure to projects through all phases of architectural delivery
  • Opportunity to combine technical architectural work with project coordination and management
  • Direct mentorship and support from Principals and Senior Architects
  • Strong opportunities for professional growth, development and increasing responsibility
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Long-term career opportunity with an established and respected Calgary architecture practice
  • Opportunity to develop into a well-rounded Architectural Technologist / Project Manager

If you are an experienced Architectural Technologist looking for an opportunity to expand your technical and project management responsibilities within a collaborative Calgary architecture practice, we would like to hear from you.

Please apply with your resume or reach out to Laura Shalev at lshalev@talentsphere.ca for further details.
