Job description

Position Summary: The Production Planner is responsible for managing and communicating the production schedule for the Mishawaka facility while balancing consumer demand, plant capacity, and component availability.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary point of contact between the Supply Chain Planning group at headquarters and the Mishawaka facility.
  • Create, adjust, and maintain the production schedule to keep the facility running efficiently based on customer demand information from Supply Chain Planning, operational needs, and component constraints.
  • Ensuring the necessary systems are kept up to date, and the data integrity of those systems.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the other working groups and departments throughout the organization that have an interest in the Mishawaka Production Schedule.
  • Communicate production schedule to effected groups at the Mishawaka and be available to answer questions and adjust the schedule as needed.
  • Communicate and work with raw material planner and inventory specialists regarding schedule changes and challenges affected by, or that will affect raw material and packaging demand or orders.
  • Coordinate rework, repack, and regrind that need to be carried out by the operations group.
  • Verify production has been reported correctly and either correct issues or communicate issues to those responsible for making the correction.
  • Be involved in finding the root cause of inventory variances and system issues and the solutions for those issues.
  • Communicate about production schedule competition to specific groups as needed.
  • Be the point person for packaging releasing and issues at the Mishawaka facility.
  • Supervise the Junior Planner
  • Other duties as assigned

Workplace Safety:
  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries

Quality & Food Safety:
  • Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Position Requirements:
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with production planning systems
  • Proficient in MS Office software, with an emphasis on excel.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field or high school diploma with 5+ years of planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment:
  • 24 hour, 5 days a week operation.
  • Combination of plant and office environment.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
