Samtec is seeking a Manufacturing Production Operator for our Colorado Springs, Colorado location. This is a first-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay is $20.25 per hour, with the opportunity to earn an additional $0.50 per hour quality bonus for weeks with no quality rejects.

Position Summary

As a Manufacturing Production Operator, you will support the production and testing of optical products by preparing optical engines for testing, transferring components between trays and testing equipment, and separating nonconforming products from acceptable product. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a clean manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Use tweezers and other precision tools to safely handle optical engines, transferring them between trays and testing equipment.
  • Perform measurements, alignment, and testing of optical cable assemblies and components.
  • Follow work instructions and standard operating procedures applicable to the production area.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, process instructions, and production orders.
  • Operate production equipment and tooling while understanding their purpose and application.
  • Use a microscope for extended periods to inspect and assemble miniature components.
  • Maintain workflow and productivity in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Consistently uphold quality standards throughout all production processes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate patience and adaptability when learning new or detailed processes.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities for process, tooling, and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail while meeting productivity expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Ability to work with small components and precision equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Work Environment & Safety Requirements

  • Must adhere to all departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • May be exposed to manufacturing noise and required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May work with hazardous materials or chemicals and must follow all applicable safety guidelines, including the use of safety glasses and other protective equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and steady hands.
  • Ability to perform repetitive, precision-based tasks.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, including periods of 90 minutes or more.
  • Ability to use a microscope for prolonged durations.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Training

  • On-the-job training provided, as appropriate.
